Somali Nikaax's or Meher?

Post by 1nemansquad »

..how they do it, is it the customary Somali way or is it Islamic?

..among different Qabiils or Somalis from different areas, is it done the same or in a different way

..i have a feeling that this topic will be unproductive for the reason that i doubt any of you would know jack about this :|

Squad,

Since all Somalis consider themselves Muslim, it is imperative that they follow the Sunna in terms of conducting such important union. I never heard any Somali clan doing otherwise.

However, waxaa maqlay in reerihiina intii aanay diintu aadka u soo gaadhin, marka ay nin iyo naag is doonaan, in la odhan jiray "Ha iskala sii joogto inta Ogaadeenku safarka ka soo noqonayaan oo ay u meherinayaan" Meaning, the Og were the closest religious clan to you guys and they were travelling to sell their products in Hargeisa, on their way back, they would pass through your territory and will conduct the nikaax ritual for the couple who were cohabiting. Maxaa ka jira arrintaas?

Squad,

Someone told me that story, just wanted to confirm with a real Dhuloos.

Isku si ayaa loo bixiyaa yaradka iyo gabbaatiga, it's just the prices are different from place to place. In the North and West, their women are more pricier than their Southern, Central and Northeastern counterparts, their bargain starts from 100 camels or so.

Central regions, it's either monetary or cattle, whereas the Northeast, it's related to maritime since their livelihood relies on marine products, so it could be shark ears and lobster, in the rural areas, it's goats. The Southern part where all the minority qabiils are congested, it depends on which qabiil the union is taking place. For Reer Xamar it's gold, then you get into the farming natives of the Shabelles and Jubbas, these qabiils charge farm product, so it could be a jawaan galley, jawaan sisin and two chickens, if the bride-to-be is stunningly and outstandingly beautiful, then there is no harm in throwing in an extra jawaan of baradho.
