Review: Eritreans vs. Ethiopians

My impression of Eriterians and Ethiopians in the states is very positive. I grew up with a lot of Eretrians and some Ethiopians.

Ereterians are most patriotism people i have ever met. They will fight and die for you even if you knew them a week. Humble, down to earth but very emotional and will get out into a lot of fights when they're drunk.

Ethiopians I met were very respectable individuals. We had disagreement views on polictics but we repected each other. I have to admit that they are more consistant than Ereterians and very objective on their view.


These were my Habashan friends in HS and College.

To be honest my experience with Eritreans and Ethiopians and there are a lot where I live is very positive. I think on a bigger plan Ethiopians are more civilized and display remarkable behavior alien to Somalis. In the sense that Ethiopians are almost always open-minded, progressive, do not bring political issues between you and them, etc. Maybe it is because of their diversity and being forced to look beyond simple ethnic orgins to have a national identity that made them like this but they are better then the Somalis I know. Somalis are negative people, almost always have fixed opinions, and probably if I am being come off as very unfriendly, rude, and highly zenophobic.

Now politics back home is another thing but that is my observation.

Also most Eritreans once they know you are Somali will treat you like another Eritrean. Great people but one thing they share with Somalis is that they base everything on politics. I am sure if Somalia and Eritrea were enemies, they would treat me as one whereas Ethiopians would not.

walahi i have met Ethiopian oromo amhaar Tigray they are all nice people he always make jokes we used to work together a few years ago and the Ethiopian guy always used to say hey Khalid , i hate that fukin eritrean i dont trust him i was like tesfu why dont u trust him he said Eritreans can not be trusted.
he always used to make jokes sayin, he always used to say we are the royal family of Ethiopia.

I have never met an Ethiopian that things like that. That kind of talk is alien to their thinking and trust me I live in a state that has the second highest Ethio population in the U.S and the highest Eriteran.

Most Ethiopians are very soft spoken, paciful people. Eritreans have their minds on the motherland all the time, and some even mess with me saying "We harbor those damn terrorists from Somalia!" jokingly and I tell them "Your President had a Somali passport before your country even existed on a map"

But for the most part, they're much more civilized than Somalis.
