I will answer the question with respect to somalis and eritreans.

Somalis whether they are new immigrants or born in the west, I find are very much the same in manners. Easy going, outspoken, sense of humour. I am regularly confused for somali so i am very much easily baptised as one of the crew. laakin when they feel disrespected they can get rebellious like the male camel, that is when you take a step back & approach from a different angle. And when discussing politics, never align yourself with another tribe against theirs. They will not forget it. Overall cool people.

Eritreans, in particular tigrigna I find are cool folks especially when they find out you are against Meles, mengistu etc. Unlike somalis I find they get easily westernized. I only roll with their FOBS. Nationalists, eat and sleep politics. Always eager to differentiate themselves from ethiopian tigrayans and the term 'ethiopian', even when there is not much difference. But telling them so will quickly turn them against you. Good folks overall.

I have met them in Africa, Middle East, Europe and everywhere it's the same.

I have Ethiopian friends and used to go to school with bunch of Eritreans back in the day. Don't have problems with the people. Now for their leaders, both need to mind their own business and stay out of Somali affairs.

I got love for ETs and Somalis who got love for Eritrea. But dont get it twisted i've had to tell a an Et and Somali to knuckle up when they disrepected the homeland, something just triggers when one reflects on the Uncles, Aunts, cousins lost during our struggle...so becoming defensive is a natural instinct.
The crew I ran with growing up consisted of an Ogaden, Darod, hawayie, couple Sudanese, and three Eritreans including myself. No matter what we had each others back, and bump heads with a lot of niggas, but we was always respected around the hood and commonly refered to as the "dem african niggas". I learned a lot about somalia from the homies and they made me promise them that when someone speaks bad about somalia speak up for us since everyone else turned their back on us. So like in the past i'ma watch their backs and i know they'll do the same for me. So i dont looks at this as a Eritrea vs. Ethiopian thing instead i see it as Somalia vs. everyone thing.

Funny thing is the Eritrean administration is 100x more brutal and oppressive towards Muslims than Ethiopia is. Ethiopia has Islamic Institutes, Madrasas etc. and there never shut down or bothered like in Eritrea. Politically as well Muslims in Ethiopia are doing much better than Eritrea. It supirses Me how people think Isayas Afwerki a gaal is somehow better than Meles another gaal.
