Why do Somalis have an inferiority complex?

I know I'm not the only one whose noticed this but it really bothers me when my people try to distance themselves from their African roots.

First and foremost I have studied biological anthropology in college. One thing science teaches us is that there is no such thing as race. Race is a human construct created by people just to group different populations. The mapping of the human genome has showed that all humans are descendant from Africa and that Africans have the greatest genetic diversity of any population. Yet race now plays an important role in our world and since the 1500's, race has been used by Europeans as a claim for their dominance over the world. And also the enslavement and colonization of Africans created the current perception of inferiority towards these peoples not only by other races but also by themselves.

Somalia is a country in Eastern Africa. Genetically and linguistically Somalis are the same as the other Africans who live in the horn of Africa. Sure Somalis look different than bantu speaking Africans, but so do the Dinkas and Masai. Somalis look just like Ethiopians yet I don't see Ethiopians saying they are descendant from Arabs. Africa like Europe and Asia doesn't have one phenotype that defines it. White in Sweden look a lot different from whites in Greece and Italy, yet I never hear whites in Italy and Greece claiming to be another race of people because they don't have blond hair and blue eyes like the Swedes.

Well that's cause there isn't an inferiority complex associated with whiteness. But because of the inferiority complex associated with blackness, we see a lot of people today who are black claiming to NOT be black.

To me that is the sign of weakness in our people. Sure I know some of you will claim that this as a sign of superiority and pride by claiming Somalis are unique, blah blah blah. But the reality is you are nothing more than an insecure black person. The rest of the world views us as black yet our inferiority complex keeps us from not only accepting our true heritage but also understanding the greatness of our legacy and people.

I just want to tell my people to stop trying to be like the Arabs or anyone else and just be yourselves. We are nomadic east africans with black skin so live with it.

To top it off, I seen a guy with my own eyes, wearing a Khamiis to the masjid and speaking arabic and then I knew arab culture completely engulfed the Somali culture.

So, if Somalis have all these different genes, how can you put them in one category.Let me tell you one thing.Somali is a region and not a clan and I am proud Arab from the Tarud clan.This is what my Y-DNA confirms that it is J1e and that is one of several proofs which show that I am as Arab as a Saudi or an Iraqi Arab.I am brown in color, I always check the black category when I am filling an application.I dont believe Somalism or Africanism or blackism because these categories were not known to my people before the last century.

But that is problem my man and why in the end it creates an INFERIORITY complex for our people. Because if we are to believe we are better than other Africans because our facial features and hair texture make us look closer to whites and Arabs, then all we are acknowledging is that we may not be at the bottom rung of the ladder when it comes to races but we sure are pretty close cause we ain't completely non-black.

To degrade other Africans for not looking closer to Europeans, only makes us look bad in the end because we are acknowledging that we are in ourselves inferior to the whites and Arabs.

I personally don't believe that ignorance. We Somalis are descendant from the original people of planet earth put here by Allah. The first people were AFRICAN and BLACK just like us. There is no shame in our history. I think Somalis like all people of African descent should educate themselves on the greatness of their people. Contrary to the propaganda of the West, Africa is the cradle of civilization and humanity. We should be proud of this. We shouldn't be trying to run away from it like ignorant fools. Only people who are still brainwashed by white supremacy would behave this way.

I'm not saying to not be Somali first and have pride in our people above all else including other Africans. All I'm saying is that to use the terminology and thinking of whites and Arabs to degrade our African brothers would do nothing more than be a justification that we are also in fact inferior to them as well.
