abaa, i learned to listen to maamooyinka unattentively. if they see u not paying attention or caring they'll talk in front of u, but if u actively participate they hate it and get annoyed. so i've learned early on to just listen. hadda caadi, they talk all they want, but every now and then i say something so they don't get suspicious.

SnS:- Maybe you're right, maybe I do make it obvious by gigglin'..lol. I sometimes pretend I'm watchin' the tv or readin' the newspaper - and I act oblivious to everything around me. But I'd suddenly burst out laughin', I just can't keep it in. It's not even the stories, it's how they tell it which makes me laugh. They have such a knack for tellin' stories. See iskugu camirayaan is just hilarious. Ala kii sidi ku dhacday ma maqashay, ala balo baa heshay etc.. lol. I remember as a kid I used to sit on the stairs, and listen in. lol.

exactly! abaa ma aragtey how dramatic they are?! it cracks me up too. i remember one time when i was young i participated in a convo and my mom was "nayaa hadda ka dib dadka waa weeyn oo hadlaayo ha soo dhexgalin waa ceebe" and from that day on i never did. i felt embarassed. canaanta waa necbahay!
