How would you translate 'Haya'

Post by LaQaNyO »

Haya is a beautiful concept in Islam manshala. There is no one word in English that fully describes what it means....Though sometimes it can be translated as modesty or shame... Can you think of what it might mean in somali?

I thought of Xishood more than akhlaaq?!

Yes Hyper that is what i thought as well.. xishood .. but what does xishood mean in english shyness? Because shyness as a english word would not define Hayaa :|

In Swahili haya and tabia are quite close in translation

lakin haya I suppose has more to do with humility and shyness

LaQaNyO i asked now my father and says the word could be : sareeg as ma sareeganeysan.

sareeg little stronger than just hishood, so it could be the better word for it.
