one comment really stood out to me. I read it and went away for a couple hours I went back to it and felt compelled to reply..
Isaqi strategists and policy makers make no secret of the fate they have in store for non-Isaq clans once international recognition is secured. In a manner reminiscent of Hitler's "final solution" or of post-Tito Yugoslavia, they would immediately embark on an ethnic cleansing campaign to uproot the Dhulbahante and Warsangeli from their ancestral homelands and force them to resettle in Somalia's northeast and/or the southeastern regions of Ethiopia, while the Issa and Gadabursi would be temporarily retained as subject peoples who pay taxes and do the bidding of the Isaq. It is envisaged that ultimately the whole of the formerly British-ruled colony would be exclusively inhabited by the Isaq who view themselves as the sole legitimate custodians of, and heirs to, Britain's colonial legacy in the area.Viewed in this light, the whole "Somaliland" farce is nothing but a land grab scheme alla Hitler's 'lebensraum' dream---more living space for the noble Isaq people who have grown sick and tired of being assigned a minority status in the context of a united Somalia, and are desperately yearning for a place where they, not the Darod or Hawiye or Rahanwein, form the majority!
Emperor i did not state that Somaliland should remain with the rest of Somalia because we are ethnically and culturally homogenous society, what i said was that Somalilad failed to produce a convincing case for its recognition, they have no valid reasons..what makes them differen from Tibet, Basque, Kashmir,Taiwan, Kurdistan, Chechnya ,Ogaden and South Ossetia whom are all seeking independence If Somaliland is recognised than the Mexican-Americans should have the Southern part of Texas to return to Mexico
And don't come with that ridiculous statment that "we where a country before Somalia even existed", do you realise how absurd that sounds, North Somalia was not a country but a colonised parcel of Somalia.
Its preposterous how your own kind is using the marginalization of Somaliland people during Barre’s regime in late 80’s as platform for recognition..I've stated landers cannot provide us with congrete reasons for recognition of sland..I believe is time for these secessionists who believe in this fairyland to wake up, stop chewing the green leaves and smell the coffee, real talk..this recognition movement looks like chasing a mirage..the sooner they accept that there will be no cinderella ending the better.. the whole concept for further dividing somalia is deriving from Ethiopia, who wants to dominate and control somalia in mouthful portions and segments..If you talk about dividing Somalia, you are no less than the enemy who threatens us everyday with the deployments of HIV-striken contingents to Somalia under the pretext of disarming militias..In the eyes of the world Somalia is ethnically and culturally homogenous society and the international community will continue to support Somalia’s unity and territorial integrity at all international fora, in particular at the United Nations, African Union and Arab League.
And this thread is not about the so called clan based region, if you are looking for debate i suggest you come to our Headquarters quote]
The decision to break away has been, and still remains, an Isaq-only affair..The Isaqi position is so full of contradictions and at times so downright hypocritical that it cannot withstand the slightest scrutiny.
In fairness to the Isaq, however,it should be mentioned that there has always been a significant minority opposed to the idea of secession on the grounds that it was neither viable nor dsireable. In this camp are some prominent politicians, e.g.Mr. Osman Ali Jaama, better known as 'Osman-Kalloun', a former minister in Somalia; the former commander of Somalia's police force, Mr.Jama Mohamed Qalib; and the nationally renowned poet, Mr. Mohamed Ibrahim 'Hadrawi'. But this group's voice of reason has been drowned out by the cacophony of the Isaqi crowd whose sentiments have been ruthlessly manipulated by the demagogic politicians who are in control of the Hargeisa administration and their rabble rousers. Most recently, a widely respected traditional clan leader, Boqor Osman Bur-madow, has been thrown in jail without any recourse to a fair trial for voicing his opposition to war in the East. The law in Hargeisa is that anyone who advocates union with the rest of the country or opposes the maniacal administration's military adventures gets automatically arrested and charged with national treason! So much then for Hargeisa's claim of being an oasis of stability, democracy and human rights in a wilderness of anarchy and violenceThe problem is Somalilanders cannot really state a valid reason to be recognised without getting all emotional and playing the victim mentality card (the massacres of 80's ), and majority of the landers in the diaspora are poorly informed, we all know Somaliland officials are skilled at masterminding propaganda, walle they must have studied Joseph Goebbels tactics..There is a false assumption that all Reer Sheik Isaxaaq are monolithic and that they all support secession, that is a sweeping overgeneralization, large sections of the Isaaq clan do still remain patriotic unionists, notably the Garxajis who had an honourable leading role in the independence struggle for the Somali people everywhere..This whole secession is the work of our enemies..let me just say am not taking away what Somaliland has achieved ( peace ,stability and since 91 it has run its own economy

) but that is not valid reason to why it should be accepted as a sovereign nation..so landers put aside your pride...
Since the secession was declared, the antipathy towards the rest of Somalis in Somalia had reached intolerable proportions. Who would have believed until recently that a time will come when Somali nationals living lawfully in Hargeisa, as Somali citizens, or coming as visitors, would be “deported” as illegal aliens while foreigners such as Ethiopians, and even Israelis, are affectionately welcomed? The problem with the secessionists is that there are no leaders with vision, courage and integrity who are prepared to face to the hard facts and the necessary decisions even if they have to risk initial unpopularity. Those who are presently in government or in the opposition parties have come to outdo one another in their eagerness to endear themselves to the uninformed masses that have been daily fed with anti-Somalia hate propaganda.
This distancing from the rest of Somalia is not a new phenomenon related to the secession and recognition goals. It goes back to the early 1950s when some sections of the Isaaq clan in former British Somaliland opposed the raising of the S.Y.L flag at its office in Burco which led to the famous S.Y.L. verse: “Sanduluu ku iman saca faarsa tegey saddex maalintuu qado, sawaxaa ka dhigan safka haatan yidhi Soomaali aan diidno”.
