A Quick Message to Presidential Hopeful Ahmed Siilaanyo
BY:- Ahmed Doob-baje
hadhwanaag 2009-04-10 (Hadhwanaagnews) The Guurti, perhaps unwittingly, effectively handed you the “ball”, I wonder how you and your party are so blind to it. Is the sharp-eyed Eagle coming of age.
It would be good for your party and the People of Somaliland, if you see it, appreciate it and play it professionally, keeping in mind that victory comes in a series of goals/scores and not necessarily as one single shot, as witnessed in the military and political campagins you waged against Dictator Siad Barre when you were the Chaiman of SNM.
Take the time. Pass the ball. Plan the hit and do not forget the power of strategizing, the patience and the preparation needed to come up with the most effetive tactics. Then, boom !...to the presidential palace.
Fighting the decision of the Guurti and asking for immediate election is tantamout to giving Riyaale another five years. Why not give him another 6 months on your own in addition to the 6 months given by the GUURTI for full one year. I mean why not give him a lot of bedding ( ……. Badane waa loo gogol badiyaa)
None of the 3 political parties of Somaliland, in their present state of affairs, have the ability to form an effective and efficient government that can successfully sail Somaliland through the turbulent waters it is currently going through.
Both UDUB and KULMIYE have been plagued by internal fighting. Badly wounded and weakened, they have lost a large numbers of their membership and top leaders. The only game they can play is belaming each other. They both need about a year to recuperate , re-organise and re-build.
UCID is the party of the nerds. Full of ideals and short of pragmatics. UCID needs to build their power base among the common populace. They should appreciate the six month extension the GUURTI gave to Riyaale's Goverment and ask for another 6 months to be added for a full year. Then they should use that time to collect parts and pieces off from UDUB and KULMIYE.
By all indications, if an election was held today, UDUB would have won by a large margin. Whether they would be able to form the kind of Governement the country needs today is a question to ponder.
It is mind boggling to see how UDUB is squandering this opportunity by asking for extension, while KULMIYE and UCID are trying to prevent UDUB from squandering its opportunity to win NOW.

"It is mind boggling to see how UDUB is squandering this opportunity by asking for extension, while KULMIYE and UCID are trying to prevent UDUB from squandering its opportunity to win NOW. "
Let me correct one big falacity and false news spread by headless-chicken supporters of Kulmiye, the Election Officers were the ones that asked for the delay of the elections not UDUB. UDUB always maintained to being ready for the elections any day and any time. But what UDUB can not accept is simply Kulmiye's wild-dreams. What Kulmiye people want is for the country to be in a state of anarchy while the elections take place. That is just not going to happen. An elected president like Daahir Rayaale has the right to be president until another elected president takes office from him. This Kulmiye dreams of Saleebaan Gaal miracoulously becoming a president through the backdoor is just plain stupidity and foolishness.
Out of 5 elections so far, there was no single time that Kulmiye bested UDUB in any of them. What makes Kulmiye think that they will pull a rabbit out of the hat this time? Stop dreaming folks.
UDUB is going to win another 5 year term with flying colours. Mark my words.

So if that is right why is the Siilaanyo aka Laxda Burco crying foul?
As this Kulmiye crazyness drags on, Many people are realising that Kulmiye has lost touch with reality and non-Habarjeclo supporters of Kulmiye will one by one leave that party as is happening now. It is totally irrational what Laxda Burco is proposing.

Although, I still call him Mujaahid Silanyo, he backed failed policies towards his party. Xisbigana waxaa sumcada ka dilay kooxo england degan oon siyaasad waxba ka aqoon oo non HJ politician ahba nacsiiyey xisbigii, iyo kuwii tuur, cigaal iyo Rayaalaba soo nacay oo talada maroorsaday.

As for the current crackdown on unrest and civil disobidience. I have to say the government is taking the necessary measures to stop the country from sliding into destablisation. The government is responding to Kulmiye's call that they do not recognise any government in Somaliland as of 6th of April 2009 and trashing the decisions reached by the institutions of Somaliland such as the Golaha Guurtida - the highest institution in the country.
What is becoming apparent is the fact the people are realising that Kulmiye is power hungry and doesn't care about the rules and laws of Somaliland. That is what is frightening the people now, just imagine a power hungry party with more headless-chicken politicians, Somaliland would definitely go to hell. And that is not what the Somaliland people are prepared for.
Kulmiye has really lost whatever appeal it had before. It is self-destructing itself by having such crazy political positions. They are accusing the NGOs, the NEC, the Guurti, the Courts, the Police, The military, the Presidency, UCID, ... everyone. They even accused EU for funding the elections. You can't explain this crazyness.

Re: A Quick Message to Presidential Hopeful Ahmed Siilaanyo
In your opinion anything and everything wrong with Somaliland can be placed at the feet of Kulmiye. But in reality the current state of affairs is the product of the Riyaale. His anti-democracy and corrupting of the Somaliland instituations has led us down this path were the country is run by a dictator in all but name. He manipulated the last election and got the result he wanted with the phantom 80 votes, this time people are just hoping for an election to take place. Why cant Kulmiye be silenced by allowing the election to take place and instead blamed for doing their job in trying to protect somalilands democracy. This is a shame affairs you are either a democracy with an elected leader or a dictatorship, you cant be both. Why has this election been delayed for so long, if its nothing sinister then this government needs to move on on grounds of incompetency. Because if they cant organize an election they are not fit to govern. However the real reason the election is being delayed might be both incompetency and a general disregard for democracy in the hope that the general somaliland population will be to ignorant to put the dots together. But it seems they the people of somaliland have reached a different conclusion to the one Riyaale was hoping for which explains this new approach of using physical intimidation.
This election needs to take place is time people like you Yawle put your money were your mouth is. All we want is an election, but this government cant deliver that....
Yawle, your opinion of Silanyo or Kulmiye is clouded by hate and thats the reason why you always get things a little bit wrong. You have no interest in anything other then settling old scores and bad mouthing the good mans name is just another way of you furthering this agenda. You need to check yourself and stop behaving like a female on a mission to settle a score.

Both of you are lacking objectivity, Yawle is pro Udub and General is pro Kulmieye. The government paranoia reached its peak over-sensitive to any harmles demonstration and causing severe provocation on Kulmiye supporetrs. on the other hand, I do agree that Kulmiye is currently losing ground by its worthless fight and unwise policy "e.g we don't recognise the gov.". wadanka odayaal ha loo dhiibo, shir beeleed and cetra and cetra.

Lol, i was told earlier today, that siilaanyo is 69 years old, and he is due to be 70 in 6 months time. and somaliland has a law that states a president cannot be 70 or over, so the 6 months extension was to wait till he turns 70 ..

Re: A Quick Message to Presidential Hopeful Ahmed Siilaanyo
General SNM,
This notion that some Kulmiye CaliBeysteen supporters propagate that UDUB has engineered the delay is total nonsense and doesn't hold any water.
UDUB has a record of delivering Elections and is not affraid to holding elections and doesn't wish to delay the elections any further. In fact, a delayed election is a lost for everyone including UDUB. You need to understand that simple truth before you open your Jaamac Waal mouth again.
Kulmiye can accuse UDUB for other things but the election is not one of them. When the government was pushing the Election Commisioners in 2008, it was Kulmiye that was crying foul
and saying the Government is interfering into the independent election officers' job. When the government distanced itself from the Commisoiners and let the commisioners do their job, Kulmiye is crying foul and saying the Government is incompetent because they were not tough enough to independent Commisioners. Kulmiye is trying to double act everything and in the process making itself irrelevant and irresponsible as a main oppossition party.
This election is different from the other elections. In this election, it is not only Somaliland that is involved, other international actors also involved and funding the project. We do not have the final say, we have to consult with other international partners in everyway.
And one last thing about the elections, UDUB is ready any day and any time, but its the election commissioners' call to publish what date and what time they want to hold the elections.
The president asked for the Guurti to extend the time required as per the Election Commisioners' request. The Guurti in their heated debate came to the conclusion that 6 month extention would be more than enough for the Elections to take place in a free and fair manner.
But it is Kulmiye that does not recognise and has refused to accept either the Election Commisioners, the Guurti or any other independent body's decisions.
Now Kulmiye has cornered itself into irrelevance as their positions become even more narrower and tighter. What will they do? Will they accept the decisions of the nation or will they continue to play the spoiler? It is their choice but the Somaliland people will continue their march.

Re: A Quick Message to Presidential Hopeful Ahmed Siilaanyo
I am a UDUB supporter but what does General SNM's arguments? I said it clearly:Rightwing wrote:Both of you are lacking objectivity, Yawle is pro Udub and General is pro Kulmieye.
Conclusion:Caqli xumaa meeshaas taala.
1. Kulmiye rejected NEC's decisions, eventhough just two weeks ago they were saying that only the NEC is able to extend the elections date
2. Kulmiye was betting on Guurti's vote and when they found that it didn't turn as they wished, they refused to accept it. A sign of cowardly.
3. Kulmiye is accusing the International NGO working with NEC as interfering in the internal affairs of Somaliland
General SNM doesn't contend the fact that the terrorist bombing caused a delay to the election timetable and the NEC had a right to ask for extention and KUlmiye refused to accept that request. The President then asked the Guurti to legalise the extention after Kulmiye's refusal to settle the case between the political parties.
Now what is General SNM's arguments? Rayaale is being a dictator? Give me a break.

Re: A Quick Message to Presidential Hopeful Ahmed Siilaanyo
Rightwing, war get of the fence and defend your tool. Ninkan Yawle has only one reason for trying place the blame on Silanyo and Kulmiye and that reason needs no rocket scientist. Or are you guys in Bari still lost and finding the road to Kulmiye a little confusing.
Yawle arguments dont hold up under close examination. His whole argument is based lies and personal attacks..lets look at them closely. How can the election be put back for a year because of some incident, and what sort of effect could the bombing have that would disrupt the election requiring them to be delayed for a year. The election should have been held up for no more then a week or too and then allowed to carry on. But to stop and then restart a years time is counterproductive and only prelongs the instability. Secondly it seems these groundless excuses are used to justify the erosion of democracy, if its not bombs its voter registration or some other reason and they all have thesame conclusion, no election. If Kulmiye was anti democracy or somaliland they had a better reason in the last election to disrupt the harmony of somaliland. But they chose to hold the peace and wait for the next election so you can understand the frustration in finding out Riyaale and his sheep had no intention of allowing this election to proceed. Silanyo have behaved like gentleman they have explained the reason for not accepting this government, its mandate has expired. They have demonstrate to make their feelings heard loud and clear only to find state sponsored violence being aimed at them.
Kulmiye cant be blamed for destabilizing somaliland, the true culprits are Riyale and his flock. For being unable to administer and organize an election, someone has to stand up against this march towards dictatorship. Imagine in other democracies if elections cant be held for any reason heads roll and people are dismissed only in somaliland do you get rewarded for not allowing election to take place by keeping your position. What incentive does Riyale have for organizing this election if he keeps his place for not organizing it....Why would he jeopardize his power by allowing this election to proceed and resulting in him losing power...Its the real reason this election has not happened and will not happen and no amount of calcaal from those who see Riyale as continuation of their war, my enemies enemy is my friend, will help obstruct this truth...

General
Most of the my fellow eastern HJ has record of ineffectiveness and blind support for the Kumiye, simply SILANYO is HJ...It's time to change public opinion.
I respect Silanyo for his past and record, but he's out of touch with reality.
1-Diidmo qayaxan wax kastoo commission, Golaha odayaash and cetra soo saaraan
2-Xisbigii oo haatan noqday Xisbi reer. "Irrational thinking leads to self-defeating behavior"
3-Hadalo xisbbiga taageerayaashiisu ku dhawaaqaan, e.g. "Burcaanu dawlad kaga dhawaaqi iyo dagaal ayaanu ridi"
About UDUB
We all know that the president is surrounded with corrupted advisors, enriched themselves while impoverishing millions. Hadana taasoo jirta way dhaamaan kulmiyahan leh ha lagu noqdo shirbeeleed iyo dawladi ma jirto.
About UCUD
I don't like Faysal's occasional gaff, but I believe he should be judged and respected his patriot mind.
