Marijuana - is it xaram in Islam?
Is there a part in the Quran that strictly says no to marijuana as it does to wine?
I've always been bugged by the cultural acceptability of khat and marijuana in Muslim societies. I agree that khat and alcohol should be outright illegal in any society for their destructive nature and the dependence they create. Marijuana on the other hand does less harm to your body than a trip to McDonald's and brightens up the world.
Back to the point, is there a part in the Quran about it saying its illegal or even bad, specifically cannibis? And do you think it should be xaram?

You can never smoke too much marijuana. Its healthy, it fades in 1-2 hours, and you can do a lot while you're high. I've written numerous essays and songs on marijuana, and I'm working on a script for a movie plot I came up with while listening to opera last time I got high.Addoow wrote:Do you often use Marijuana ?
There is no such thing as frequent, always, or often when it comes to marijuana.

Nah man, marijuana is just as bad as any drug, especially when the wrong people use it. Remember marijuana is a sedative and it kills your ambition, imagine somali's who are already lazy smoking, the results aren't good. Not to mention somali's abuse it.

Its impossible to abuse marijuana and get addicted. For one, you can smoke 10,000 ounces (possible more) of Marijuana in a single sitting and still not die - there goes the abuse factor. Its like eating too many tic-tac mints, it has virtually zero calories and has no effect on your body, and you certainly won't "crave" it like cigarettes or other drugs. Marijuana smokers, like someone who may enjoy tic-tac mints, get a nice feeling for a few hours and probably won't come back for another 2-3 days to smoke again.RebelLion1 wrote:Nah man, marijuana is just as bad as any drug, especially when the wrong people use it. If Somalis smoked marijuana in larger numbers instead of khat, their brains would open up a little bit, and that is never bad.
You have one point, though, khat has the lowest abuse potential in the world of any recreational drug, and marijuana is #2, Somalis would definitely overuse it somehow, but maybe marijuana will turn back the effects of khat, its been used to treat addictions of cocaine and virtually every other harmful drug.

Whatever the Quran does not say clearly is Haram is open for debate and only God is the judge.
Man made laws can never be equate God's no matter how good intentioned they are. and thats in everything.
Is it Haram to rape your wife? is it haram this , is it halal that..is all creations by scholars and most of them were serving dictators/rulers who wanted to create their own laws in order to control the masses.
But dude you can write an essay while high on marijuana??

The Qur'an says no intoxicants... this includes alcohol and marijuana and anything else that takes you out of your element.
[Qur'an 2:219] They ask you about intoxicants and gambling: say, "In them there is a gross sin, and some benefits for the people. But their sinfulness far outweighs their benefit."
the word translated intoxicants in this verse 'khamr' which in arabic literally means 'the drink made from grapes'. however, there are many authentic traditions which make clear that the word here is to include all intoxicants.
The Prophet SAW prohibited all intoxicants in a shahih hadith in Bukhari

all intoxicants are prohibited unless one wants to dispute the effect of THC on a subject

Skippa, many of those effects cant really be disputed, tho...as much they'd try to...lol.
The Arabs, back in the day, used to get mad intoxicated and not remember how many Rukah's they'd prayed during Salaad. It was around this time that the revelation against intoxication in islam being prohibited, came down. Now as productive as Pot makes u, (Monk writing essays and songs and all that) marijuana always gives you this drowsy and relaxing feeling. This is why people high have a trouble remembering things. Smoking will also reduce the strength and speed of communications between your mind and body, which means that ur timing and coordination will be pretty delayed. Overall it makes people confused and useless. Yes, Useless! So ask urself then: Can one then accurately pray, or recite the Qur'an properly as they are high? No? Well for that reason alone, waa haraam!

Somali's do smoke marijuana in large numbers, especially the new generation. One of the reasons somali dudes are focked up.
We've seen what marijuana has done to jamaican and other black communities, some people just can't handle it. It retards your ambition and can easily lead to other drugs.
