You ever wonder how much your professor is making and then the annual salary guide comes out in the school newspaper?

man I'm shocked at some of these figures some dudes makin six figures and others not making that much

and its in all departments too, the Geography department has niccaz making $200k

the university president making more than the US President is so stupid... the Uni Prez just takes students out to lunch what the hell

mine is public, the university of maryland - college park

since it is public and it recieves money from the state of maryland, employees are therefore working for the state so their salaries are made public

I suppose you've got to take into account all the research work they do as well.
But those figures certainly make up for staying in education for the whole of your life lol

I think scholars deserve to be paid better salaries then similar professional/careers, at least the academic people add something tangible benefits to the world by way of education us, researching stuff and applying the new knowledge in some aspects of our lives.

However, what I absolutely hate is this f'cking so called business people getting so much for so little, for example the project I am currently involved which is deploying a SAP HCM product in a big public organisation. There are consultants from PwC who mainly work on communications/engagement stuff and can you believe it they earn at least $1,200/day average and get alot more perks.

How can anyone justify this.....

No offence to future scholars here but $200k isn´t enough and worth spending your whole life in academia.

they deserve the all years they spent learning.

i still dont know why they paid that much and it`s some thing to do not get brabed or some thing!!

LOL, the University President has lunch with students, chills around, sends a newsletter every 6 months to my inbox... mine went to Iran, he promotes the Uni and what not... meets important people

but its all chill stuff man!

That's just salary too, a lot of these prof's get grants and funding from private companies and government for research, so they make good money. But it's only the top professors, if you do phd, your better off just doing research for technical degree's.

yeah one of the geography professors got a one million dollar grant from NASA.... and NASA is like a 5 minute drive from campus too

Wow that is pretty awesome.. Here my old professor once told us she earned around 80-90k, she was the most Senior professor there and our course leader.. We all thought she was well off.. but i guess she is not quite there yet.

What is the syllabus for geography in the States horta? There is a massive difference between UK and Holland when it comes down to Geography...
