100 days training for New Weds

Post by Navy9 »

I was reading yesterday this funny qaldan somnetter's thread about cooking. So, that made me think about that each couple before they get married they should undergo a 100 days training course in a hope that their marriage will last at least a good 25 years.

So, i thought the course should be as the following:

1) 30 days they should volunteer in kindergarden schools
2) 30 days they should volunteer in pyschiatric hospitals
3) 30 days they should volunteer in nursing homes (for ages of 70 to 80)
4) 10 days training of cooking, bookkeeping, and art of how to fight in a constructive way.

Any students?

Not bad actually.

But why psychiatric hospital? Why not a couple's seminar about responsibilities, rights of spouses, etc instead?

One of the ways I learn is by observing others. These 90 days should teach any individual to be patient, patient, patient.

So many households are ruined because people lack the virtue of patience and compassion.

Also because many people marry for the wrong reasons. He wants a wife to cook & clean for him and satisfy his sexual needs, she wants security and kids, etc. Then when reality hits home and people really get to know each other, they quit. But if they truly loved each other and were willing to accept each other, willing to be true companions, then it would be easier to compromise and be patient. Not to mention people believing all sorts of bullshit about marriage, like its going to solve all the problems in the world, simply because you got married. False sense of expectation.

If two people can't get along, what are they to do? It wouldn't have been made halaal, if there was no need for it.

What about people who marry a person for the purposes of coming to the west or financial benefit, I have seen a couple of cases where such thing has happened...? I told people such marriage was doomed from the begining and no amount of madiation or advice would make is work.

The idea of training is not bad at all, though I am among those who believe no amount of training will give you a recipe for successfull marriage.

Hadii markii hore qalad la isku guursaday and believing non-existing lies about marriage, how can you expect there to be patience? Patience and compromise will be plenty as long as there is love & compassion, but most Somalis don't even marry for love, they marry for worldly conveniences. There must be a reason you're willing to put up with a spouse, if its not a solid reason, walking away isn't that difficult. I speak from experience.
