I just don't understand people making Shabab out to be some angels, When really there just another armed group in Somalia fighting for power.
they're better on the ground than warlords, no matter what the idiotic stuff they spew and threaten with

and somalis all want it their way or the highway, shabaab is no different

whether anyone likes it or not

2009 Somalia = 1991-1996 Afghanistan

Murax,

Al Shabaab will be defeated when a viable alternative is found, and the sad and depressing truth right now is that the alternative to Shabaab is anarchy, and this is why Al Shabaab exists, they are better than the anarchy, not to me and you, but for those who have lived in that anarchy, they are.

How can a group waying that We're not going to have any economical, diplomatic, commercial ties with anyone from the rest of the world except some dudes in caves in Afghanistan, How can that possibly be better for the Somali people who deserpately need help?

FAH,

The total damage for Somalis everywhere is worse from Shabab's side. Nobody stopped You before at BWI, wondering if You support Dabageed, but now every Somali Youth will get stopped asking if they support Al Qaeda

Murax,

You made some excellent points. What these kids who support Shabab or sympathize with them lack is the greater perspective and longterm ramifications of supporting Shabab. Sadly, they would not last a New York minute in Shababistan.

Shirib,

Would you trade arnachy for a religious administration that can proclaim you kuffar at any moment, seize you and decapitate you ? Or one that takes your lil brother, brainwashes him to become a homicide bomber ? Or forbids your sister from going to school ? Even more scary, proclaims you are a Gaal because you are Western educated or speak English ?

A/Wahab,

I'm finding thats something that comes with maturity Man, looking at the long term implications. FAH, Shirb just look at the short term.

Good to know you got off from that " Al Shabab is the solution" non-sense bandwagon

And no I don't support Xawaadle qab-qable...long term Shabaab socks but for the moment they are better dealing with the people and providing security, real security instead of mooryans from your clan militias :|

People can go out and not be scared to get robbed

They can sleep at night without thinking will my house be attacked, me robbed, my wife and daughters raped

Poor farmers don't have to fear that gun lords will come and take all their crops, their farms, or yet their whole village be burned down and them left with absolutely nothing

People aren't being taxed or killed for drinking water from their own river and their own wells

People aren't being forced to pay taxes for having children and if they can't having their kids taken away

People don't have to pay their entire months living just to cross the street to go visit member of the family.

On an international scale things are worst for Somali's, its worst for me and you, but for the folks on the ground this is the only peace and security they have known for nearly 2 decades.

I swear, Al Shabaab will be defeated the minute a viable alternative is found, but the only alternative that exists now is anarchy, and that right there is your problem more than Al Shabaab is!!!

Thats Where You're confused. Go to Nairobi for a visit, and see if You don't get questions of "Did You cross the border into Somalia"

Twisted,

I never supported Shabab for a second. Its just that I realized Shareef is just as pathetic if not more.

Murax,

When Barre Hiiraale lost Kismayo, a lot of people were cheering. I did not cheer because not because I love Barre but the new clowns in town were Al Shabab & co. Barre's mistake like those of the APCRT & TFG was not uniting against these religious fanatics. Instead, he allowed them to prosper and watched as many men left Kismayo to oust his fellow Faction leaders in Xamar only to have them return and make him flee.

The Al Qaeda Boyz thrive on separating their enemies and picking them off one by one. They play the tribal card to sow discontent, then apply the so called "law and order" card and finish it off with some small photo propaganda ops.

It doesn't matter if you are a Puntlander, TFger or Somalilander, these guys are going to come to your town and seize it be it now or in the future. Sadly, the forces opposed to the Shababis, never grasp this danger before its too late and are picked off by the band of wolves.

FAH,

Sorry, you possess no right to board a plane. You board a plane at the discretion of the airline and authorities.

A unity of warlords united in keeping the Somali people oppressed and down?

No thank you!
