Speaking as a western "suju"....i must say there is NOTHING like the authentic somali man or woman. Wild, gutsy, innovative, uncivil, avant-garde, and shrewed. Sujus and western grown/born somalis are nothing but weaklings with the appetite for adhering to laws and regulations, and never amounting to anything! Seriously i envy reer somali authentic people! We have a sujui ppl working for us in Tanzania, they are general nice people and highly educated. They lack the somali identity though, they seem themselves as Swahili but I see them as somali.

Derbi, you got it wrong. When people ask him are you Somali, they mean "are you a Somali citizen from the country Somalia." They don't mean "is your ethnicity or qabiil Somali."

Sujuus are a little weird, since they don't have same culture as ours. like being friendly, generous, funny. they aren't as fun as us, and not as friendly. plus they suck at speaking Somali. also since they grew as being treated second class citizens in Kenya, they have a little inferiority complex, like never thinking themselves as first. also they aren't that deep in the religion, I have seen sujuus that don't pray, or drink alcohol, when they come in America or mingle with other Somalis is when they learn a lot about our culture and religion and become good ppl.
