So, wadajir was another name for the xaafad Madiinah? Ive seen people count them as separate xaafado's, but guess not, eh?. :| Anyway, great map. Everything was obviously more known in Italian names, like "schoole Polizia", instead of Police academy, but its nice to be able see how close they were to our xaafad.

That avenue was named after the British colonial army leader, he was killed by the Darwiish in a battle near Burco. There is a famous Gabay by Sayiidka called Koofil (Corfield). This is how it begins.....

Adaa Koofilow jiitayaan, dunida joogeynee
Adigaa jidkii la gugu wadi, jimicla'aaneede
Jahannamo la geeyow haddaad, aakhirow jihato
Nimankii jannow kacay war, bay jirin inshaalleeye

Translation:

You have died, Corfield, and are no longer part of this world, a merciless journey was your portion, When, Hell-destined, you set out for the Other World Those who have gone to Heaven will question you, If God is willing.

Yeah Italian was pretty dominant. Schoole Polizia, pronto scorso (emergency hospital), casa populare

Dunno there's lots of cities missing mainly from the north. There's no borame, berbera, las canod, beledweyn, kismayo or baydhabo.

Abdikarim, I just noticed India line was there, although I always thought it was called india lane. I also noticed that hargeisa club was there(I think it still exists, I saw it in 2004)

A side Note: The world map people predominantly use today is called Mercator map which is a poor projection of the world. It is Eurocentric and many of you may find this surprising. It depicts Europe to be larger than it is actually. There is "controversial" world Map made by German cartographer by the name Arno Peters in 1940s. It is worth reading this topic on your own and learn something new about world maps. I found this fascinating new perspective back then.
