Re: Spring Rains have arrived
if that is the case, and you say this happens on seasonal bases. why are there no signs of irrigation or even significant amount of trees in that area.
it looks like people dont make use of the water, maybe a swim and a bit taken for storage
4 months is a quarter of a year, you would have thought someone would tap into this potentially micro-agricultural powerhouse.

Because Somalis are lazy, Arabs especially Omanis have been doing it for ages.
Puntland should implement Aflaj irrigation system, an ancient Omani system which is could easily be done in Puntland too.

I bet the Nomads are throwing a party right about now.
All of those thousands of Camels will have water to drink now, with the human as well off course.

Yeah I hear they even got tap water in Bosaaso now, so no denying in its abundance. Id love to see them making some pathway with that water though. Clearly as the temps get up most of that disappears. However, If they'd made attempts for artificial lakes, or rivers and such, who knows, maybe it'd reach well into the in-lands serving as the best cure for those awful droughts they have way too much!.dawwa9 wrote:

Dawwa,
Amethyst has a point. Somalis especially in drought stricken areas Galgaduud, Mudug, Bari and Nugaal don't harvest the water adequately.
If they did, they would have plenty to go around during the dry season when the water levels drop. P.S. Aquifers are hard to locate and tap into.
