Often Somalis view history as a thing of a past. What most Somalis don’t realize is that history is a science that you can use to solve future problems. The great Aristotle was quoted saying “If you would understand anything, observer its beginning and its development”. Even though I often don’t listen Somali BBC as you can get more up-to-date and accurate information on Somali websites, but I like their Somali history program that airs on Tuesdays. This is a program that interviews real people who played major roles in the Somali civil war. I learned a lot of things. For example, I never knew that Dr. Gaboose, who campaigns for the secessionist administration in Hargaisa, was very close to Siyad Barre and accompanied him to Djibouti for the Ethiopia and Somalia peace deal 1984. Lots of amazing information! I think they are going in sequential order and I am hoping they would have episodes on the Tuur-Jees-Caydiid agreement, the USC attacks on SPM, the first Addis meeting and so on. If you have some time, please try to listen to this program because you would understand that there were so many opportunities to save Somalia.

Re: History is a Science!
history is not science. history is not even that important. how we interpret it is far more important. the average isaac, darood and hawiye will have conflicting interpretations of one event( somali civil war). try to read kaufmann and other theories on mythmaking.

Guhad,
Gaboose was Bare’s personal doctor and Abdi Rodal was his own pilot. They both accompanied him to many meetings and gathering abroad. What is you point? Are you saying Isaaq were Not and Should NOT be part of his regime? His last prime minister was Omar Arte, who later ran for Somaliland presidency.

Gaboose was Siyaad's personal doctor before he was replaced by my uncle. Still Gaboose was very close to Siyaad until the end and even today he would never say anything bad about him. Why he is now a secessionist is a reflection of the rest anarchy in Somalia and the fact they would probably bar him from his own land if he weren't.
