Somali National Army Day Commemorated in Puntland.

Puntland Administration commemorated the National Army Day this morning. The national day was marked at the 54th Army Base located in the Administrative capital, Garowe.

H.E Brigadier General Abdisamad Ali , the current vice-president,presided over the ceremony which was attended by Members of the Puntland Cabinet, Security Officers, members of the Puntland Parliament, the media and members of the public.

The event kicked off at 8:00 am with a parade led by the Puntland Army Band playing patriotic melodies, followed by security forces marching gallantly infront the jubilant spectators.

Next, a guard of honour mounted by security forces was inspected by the Vice-president, H.E Abdisamad Ali Shire accompanied by senior authorities from the Puntland Government.

Colonel Deyr, the acting commander of the Puntland Security Forces opened the ceremony with praise for the professional parade skills displayed by the forces. Then he welcomed the guest of honour to the podium.

In his speech, the guest of honour Vice-president Abdisamad Ali Shire explained that the Puntland Security represented the strength of the Somali people. He praised the historic defence that the National Somali Army carried out for the country and lamented their disintegration during the civil war.

The young and hopeful faces of the Puntland security forces glistened in the hot morning sun, as they listened to the speeches attentively.

The new administration has been keen on professionalizing and motivating the security forces. Currently a number of the forces are enrolled in security courses aimed at building their professional capacities. In addition to this, regular and timely payment of salaries has improved the committment and loyalty of the security forces to their noble duty.

Why are they celebrating when they are having they're arses handed to them by a bunch of crazy kids with umaamads? I fail to see what there is in somalia today worth celebrating about. If you said Puntland army celebration, it would have made a bit more sense. :|

It is the Puntland army that is commemorating the Somali National Army day, the only place on Somali soil where that took place, only shows how lost Somalia is, and after 20 years of anarchy the only place where Somalia can be found. :|

^^^ Most educated Hawiye man alive Professor Togane.

Professor Togane wasn't kidding when he craft these words into writing about the people of Puntland. As Puntland became the only place on Somali soil where the 12th of April the National Somali Army day was celebrated. Not even Mogadishu the Somali Capital where the TFG is base was this day Celebrated what a shame!

Foxes have holes

birds have nests

Somalis have Puntland

for Puntland is

where Somali sons & daughters prophesy

Somali salvation

Somali greatness

Somali singleness of solidarity

for Puntland is

where old men dream dreams

where young men see visions

of the unity of the Somali Spirit

in the bonds of Peace

for the city of Bossasso is now the Boston of East Africa

for the city of Bossasso now is the beacon of light

beckoning

all beleaguered Somalis

all blighted Somalis

all benighted Somalis

all besieged Somalis

this is why I call Puntlanders

the only gob of the Somali race

the only kings of the Somali race

the only aristocrats of the Somali race

the only Macavity aristo-cats of the Somali race

that is why I call Puntlanders

the only custodians

of Somali honor

of Somali decency

of Somali dignity

of Somali integrity

that is why I call the Puntlanders

the only custodians of our Somali collective conscience

the only custodians of our collective Somali destiny

for they are

the quiddity of the Somali race

the quintessence of the Somali race

when Gerald Hanley testified that

“Of all the races of Africa,

there cannot be one

better to live among than

the most difficult

the proudest

the bravest

the vainest

the most merciless

the friendliest

the Somalis”

I am certain

that he had meant the Macavity Puntlanders

among whom he had lived.
