We captured jigjiga but Siyaad Barre wanted to occupy adis Ababa, a stupid move

Nonetheless, respect for the Commander of the southern army who captured Jigjiga, Col. Abdullahi Yusuf

Crazy how times change. After the war, he ran to Ethiopia to start a militia. He had a fight with Ethiopia over a border town on which country controls it. They sent him to jail for 7 years (I think),

Comes out, helps to destroy Somalia. Years later asks help from Ethiopia to take capital. Then he is bitch slapped by an Ethiopian general.

How sad, the former man who helped control 90% of the Ogaden

What would you do if you lead the liberation of Ogadeen and the President kills your kinsmen who also struggled in the war under the disguise of 'Amar diid' just because they belong to clan X? MSB asked him to lead the war despite the fact that he jailed him for 6 years AY accepted that, if that's not patriotic i don't know. Why don't you tell us why Mengistu jailed him for 6 years? Why hide the patriotic reason for jailing him? After the SSDF captured Goldogob, they raised the Somali flag instead of the Ethiopian flag, another patriotic move of him which cost him 6 years of his life.

Why don't you blame MSB for killing high ranked officers during a frigging war with our worst enemy? Why don't you blame him for changing the direction of the war, instead of liberating Somali galbeed he wanted to occupy Adis Ababa, that's just being dumb and power hungery and it cost us the victory

As for the '2007 invasion' well blame sh shariif

lol@ slapped, why bring some sensational story to portray him as a coward? cuqdad udhimo

Never change your war plan, it will backfire on you and as a president never interfere with the command during a war. Hitler changed the directions of three major wars: the battle of stanglingrad, the battle of Koersk and the ardennen battle and he lost all of them, had he let the generals he appointed do the command they could win the war. History is the best teacher

lol@ comparing Hitler to man who before becoming President of Somalia was commander of the armed forces.

Despite the BS you have been hearing your whole life kid, the objective of the military has always been to capture all of Ogaadeenia and to criplpe the Ethiopian armed forces and if possible to even initiate a regime change. Why do you think Zenawi and his comrades were being trained in Dhanaane military base outside of Xamar?

Its true AY took part of the war, as a taliye guuto which was what his rank was. No MJs or men of any other qabiil were harmed by the Kacaan during the war. Somalis from across all qabiils were brothers and supported the war of liberation. Things started to fall apart only after the USSR, Cuba, Yemen and Libya joined in on the side of the Xabesh and Carter against the advise of advisor he had chose not to come to our aide as he had promised.

Long story short, we lost all of the liberated lands but held the enemy at our borders. Truce was declared. Most soldiers returned to a demoralized but grateful nation aNd thats when AY being the treacherous benedict arnold that he is decided to implement a coup. Basically leading some of the finest MJ military officers (men lik Cirro who was extremely brave even to the last minute) to a slaughter and fled to Ethiopia.

That, young man, is the story of your beloved hero as known by every Somali person except those blinded by qabiil and oblivious to reality.

Was Siyaab Barre the commander during the 1977 war? No, he wasn't on the field. He handled the command of the southern army division to AY and he gave the command of the northern army division to Gen. Cali samatar. Eventhough Siyaad barre was the commander of the armed forces ( Cabdirashiid cali sharmake promoted him after the death of gen daud marka la soco who made you ;) ) he didn't take part of the war and thus shouldn't interfere, he should let the commanders do their job. Just like Hitler should let the commander Friederich Paulus do the command with any inference, eventhough Hitler himself was a great strategist.

As for the aim of the war, it was simple: liberate the Somali galbeed. Meles Zenawi started his TPLF in 1975 are you saying that MSB wanted to change the Mengistu regime with that group who only existed for two years? Besides TPLF came to somalia after the war. Sxb everybody knows that he changed the course of the war from his office in Xamar and that was a big mistake. Teeda kale the commander himself said in an interview that MSB changed the direction, who should i believe the one who captured JIgjiga or some with cuqdad ridden unknown bitter guy (who's probably in a wheelchair) ?

What i don't get is you guys brag about 1977 war and hate its commander, you guys hate USC and hate the one who caused their defeat. Just acknowledge his accomplishments.

Somalia was defeated in 1978 because Ethiopia received external support(Russia and Cuba) and Barre understimated the power and force of the Soviet Union and Cuba.
