They turned my family against me; they turned my friends against me and then even turned my beloved Khadija against me. She now believes I am mad but I am only insane with her uncontrollable love. Why can’t they leave us live our life? Why can’t they let me marry her and care for her? I know she loves me too; she once put her hand on my cheek and told me what a handsome man I was. She giggled like a little girl when I hugged her and scooped up her delicate old body in my arms. She even told me laughingly that I shouldn’t kiss her cheek too much (but she loved it, I know she did).
My and your choices are as normal as a normal man living a normal life with a normal family in normal old Mogadishu. The only difference between us is that you don’t really know what you want yet. I, on the other hand, want Khadija.
