Both marehan and darood are arabic names. I don't know what they mean though.
Re: Meaning of Clan Names
Daarood: means secured property consists of 2 words - daar meaning property and ood to secure.Rooble90 wrote:Do You Know The Meanings of The Clan Names ?

Hawiye: The Host. especially one who gives hospitality to a wayfarer and for female host is known as Haweeya.
Ogadeen: Oga is an old word for west so ogadeen means those who live in the west. That is why the ogadeen national liberation front doesnot refer to the clan ogadeen but to those who live in western somalia though onlf is dominated by the ogaden clan.
Dhulbanahte: another 2 word name. dhul meaning land and hante meaning wealth so dhulbahnate means the wealth of the land so calling someone dhulbahante you're calling that person to be the wealth of the land dont means he/she has a wealth of a land but that he/she is the wealth of the land.
p.s. am just a student of af somaal

I am slighty offended by how the honorable Habar Gidir name is being butchered here by amatures of the somali lang.
