It is true those people were there but when the Somali government rightfully nationalized all of the foreign industries in Somalia, majority of Italian expatriats left Somalia. I doubt there were more than 2000 Italian expatriats in Somalia in late 1980s and early 1990s. It is good they can sing Guulwadow Siyaad and learn the Somali language but in my observation majority of the Italians who learned the Somali language were Christian missionaries and they did learn it for a reason.
