Aside from the madness of the old man, the approach of the african american dude was totally wrong. How do you ask for someones daughter randomly with some translator? He should have gone with a delegation of SOmalis that know the family or even better get to know the father of the young lady before he drops the question. You don't just go up to someone that doesn't even speak english and tell them through a translator, " ya akhi, nikax".lol. No class at all! I think the old man may have thought that they were taking the piss and demeaning his daughter.

I think you have mistranslated what he was saying; the old man tougth that actually the father is after the girl and unbeknown to him that it is the son.i look at the somali man and uttered the word he is asking the hand of your daughter

Dining recently with an octogenarian of a decidedly conservative cast of mind, she leaned over the table and quipped, "Three scariest things in the world my dear: a black man with a knife, a Jew with a lawyer, and a father enmeshed in his daughter's amorous entanglement."
In one of life's ironic turns of fate, the Somali man would find himself equally spurned by an Asian family if he lusted after their little Fatima. Fascinating.

asalamu caleykum,
At least in your community the dad has his right to refuse. in some area's the fathers right would be removed, just symply call the father a innovator. And suddenly you will find any type of criminal married to your daughter(the one who conducts such a marriage being an even bigger mujrim)..how many families have been destroyed like this alahulmustacaan...the sad thing is the people that do this are meant to be the people of sunna, salafiyoon etc. yet they take part in things which dont even meet the recuirments to be called nikax, mainly the acceptance of the wali.

Of all the sectarians that rage across the Islamic landscape, could there be any more degenerate than Salafees? Among none is there so high a degree of imbecility than those ankle-swinging beardos, one of whose number offered to officiate a temporary marriage when I was briefly in Damacus for the Islamic brothels they operated so that my amorous entanglement would be quite halaal. Fascinating.fisabililah wrote:the sad thing is the people that do this are meant to be the people of sunna, salafiyoon etc. yet they take part in things which dont even meet the recuirments to be called nikax, mainly the acceptance of the wali.
