Nearly 500 bottles of hard liquor have been seized.

I've always wondered why EVERY single liquor bust reported in the last 5 years has happened in Garowe. Last year there was a 180-bottle bust, and a 240-bottle bust the year before. PuntlandPost even addressed the prevalence of drunk driving in the town in a report last year.

It is not about the nomadic pirates! Garowe is filled with expatriates from the west. I know there's at least one liquor store @ nite in Galkacyo. In Bosaso. I have seen a PIS soldier with an AK47 on the shoulder and six pack on the other in a broad daylight during Ramadan.

What's the point in burning the alcohol? Couldn't they have just chucked it away down the toilet or something? Last I checked, it is not a good idea to burn flammable stuff.

The burning act is a symbol. Somalis CANNOT have alcohol access yaqqee---it will be a disaster to have hooligans up up their shananigans with the aid of intoxication.


And besides--i have seen somalis drink alcohol and get drunk----walaahi u wish u had died. It is an awful, disgusting dehumanisation. The sharaaf of somalis goes away instantly. Especially, xalimo drinking---disgusting.
