The largest liquor bust in Somali history

Post by paidmonk »

http://horseedmedia.net/2010/09/15/ciid ... khamri-ah/

Nearly 500 bottles of hard liquor have been seized.

I've always wondered why EVERY single liquor bust reported in the last 5 years has happened in Garowe. Last year there was a 180-bottle bust, and a 240-bottle bust the year before. PuntlandPost even addressed the prevalence of drunk driving in the town in a report last year.

Who profits from hooking reer Garowe on alcohol? :?:

It is not about the nomadic pirates! Garowe is filled with expatriates from the west. I know there's at least one liquor store @ nite in Galkacyo. In Bosaso. I have seen a PIS soldier with an AK47 on the shoulder and six pack on the other in a broad daylight during Ramadan.

Wallahi kids- girls/boys get drunk- ciyaala suuq. In Hargeysa women who sell khat are idolized. Local drunks are called Spirto, they are gaalo raac.

What's the point in burning the alcohol? Couldn't they have just chucked it away down the toilet or something? Last I checked, it is not a good idea to burn flammable stuff.

eyes only aka nomad

The burning act is a symbol. Somalis CANNOT have alcohol access yaqqee---it will be a disaster to have hooligans up up their shananigans with the aid of intoxication. :o

And besides--i have seen somalis drink alcohol and get drunk----walaahi u wish u had died. It is an awful, disgusting dehumanisation. The sharaaf of somalis goes away instantly. Especially, xalimo drinking---disgusting.
