The data collected by oil companies has formed the basis of interest in Somalia today. Range Resources, an oil group listed in Sydney, estimates that the Puntland province – which includes the Mudug region – has the potential to yield 5bn-10bn barrels of oil.

If small disputes could be resolved and we can provide security for drilling teams this would be amazing.

It would take a while for the necessary infrastructure to be in place to exploit this situation. And isn't illegal for Range Resources to mine and exploit natrual resources of a stateless country. I heard Faroole was given a mere 5 million for the Oil exploration to take place.

That being said, 10 billion barrels of oil would make Puntland in top 20 countries in the world with Oil reserves. Now imagine the whole Somalia and its coastline.
