Somali politicians fascinate me

Post by Monk-of-Mogadishu »

I truly believe Somali politicians & warlords are the most fascinating human beings on earth.

I'm amazed at how clean these politicians in Mogadishu are, how well fed they are, how polished and shiny their faces are, how lofty their homes are -- and they serve one of the most battered, tattered, and filthy constituencies on earth. The people just meters outside of their offices have no clothes, no food, no jobs and are subject to probably the worst crimes on the planet.

Quite literally any of these politicians at any moment can see a person or a group of people carrying mattresses on a donkey just outside their office window. The inequity is shocking.

You don't even see this in other parts of Somalia; a politician in Galkacyo or Borama wears a shirt and old khaki pants and his constituents don't look that bad in comparison but in Xamar its like the total opposite. Politicians in Xamar are decked out in $2000 suits and eat caviar for snacks but the people around them are always pennies away from being in a refugee camp.

I had to say this, its just such a god damn fascinating thing. These Mogadishu 'politicians' rival inner city gang leaders when it comes to living ghetto fabulous; they both wanna live like kings in a slum. Their motto is basically, "I'd rather reign in hell than serve in heaven." A sane person would settle for the opposite.

This theme has been on my mind for a while, dating back to the documentary Warlords Next Door showing English factory workers & welfare leeches going to Xamar to run torture camps. This reignited in my head as I watched the shiny clean, new prime minister sit in his new office like he's calm while hell was raging beyond his little desk and I wondered how any sane person could sit there and even put on a poker face.

What you see is the tip of a very large iceberg. The UN and the so called international community (renamed colonial powers for political correctness) fck'd up Somalia for God knows how many years but no1 seems to notice  blame it on us.

 Are you mad?

These politicians might be useless because of the situation we are in but they don't deserve to be killed. It weren't their fault that stupid hawiye's destroyed the country and everything they see.

Atleast SNM and SSDF took advantage of the USA and Ethiopia by creating a peaceful and sucessful maamul. I mean look at Somaliland they have recently took took part in a peaceful election whereas the USC are still looting and robbing of innocent people and there you are wishing bad things on these politicians.

Advice: Killing is not the solution.
