I know alot more of my home than you do, but come on man let's be Realistic, Farming in the North is a Few Hectare's and water being scarce as it is will never work. I said Water Melon and Lemon and simple thing's as such can Grow but having a large Scare of Bananna Farming and other Fruit's will never be possible. Now you are claiming that only Bananna is the only fruit imported from the South and all other's are Grown in Gebilay and Wajaale?

I'm not making any comparisons I was just refuting his ridiculous claims that you cannot grow fruit & veg in the north.
Besides if arabs can grow stuff in the desert then what's stopping me, also the only major fruit I know which is still imported in from the south is bananas whereas the rest of the fruit are grown in places like wajaale, gabiley and surrounding areas.
the fruits in jannatul-fardous is much better aim for that. Who cares? Somalia needs to be united instead of bunch of materialistic people worying about this shit!

I changed my entire career path and threw away 2 years of school work in order to re-focus my energy towards agricultural sciences and management. There's obviously a money incentive in it for me but learning how to produce food in general in 10-15 years will be as useful as knowledge of basic HTML for the average forumer here today. A famous investor recently said, "If you want to be rich in the next generation, become a farmer."

King of Awdal, farming can work anywhere. The Arabs grew it in the desert of deserts, Somali soil isn't nearly as arid. There are tons of underground water supplies in Somalia, proper irrigation can make things change radically.

Do You Honestly Believe that Only Bannana come from the South?

Paid

It can work but Arab's have Billion and Billion's of Dollar's which Somali's don't. Plus Arab's did it because they had no other option while a Somali in Mogadishu, Bosasso and Hargeisa pay the same amount of Money for the Mango even though it came from Kismaayo. I once saw the price for Broccli and Mangoes in Dubai and each was 20$

Monk do you know how they irrigate the soil in somaliland and puntland, if I remember correctly they use well or ceels. My friends dad dug a well about 3m in diamter and pumped the water out, to be honest water is aplenty all over somali lands you just need to extract it.

I'm not talking about the modern Arab countries, the Omanis had an irrigation system hundreds of years ago that supported entire cities and farming grids. They used aquifers that stored water underground after rainy season subsided, this helped them sustain farms during winter seasons. Somalia must have many generations of water underground, never even tapped before.

Their administration is the only reason I'm going back. If they leave, who is going to protect my property? My only chance is if they stay. I plan to visit after another 2 years of course work, hopefully they will still be around.

Somalia's security climate is very unstable, the Jubbas can shift hands in a matter of years, its just a matter of time. Wait till the climate is more stable.

Cumar

Yeah i have no knowledge of your waqooyi where only banana is imported.

PaidMonk

Omani people have been Farming for Year's while Somali's dont and the region of Oman where they farm has a much more Moderate Climate than the North. Farming in the Sense of how we know it as Industrial will never be possible in the North for 1000's of year's to come. Heck Israel which has turned the desert into Oasis still Import's.

Like I said, I'm not visiting for another 2 years, I don't even have a passport right now. :| ----In 2 years the political situation will be more concrete.
