Puntland Parliament To Approve $100 Million Dollar Budget

Post by Somalian_Boqor »

Puntland Parliament To Approve $100 Million Dollar State Budget For 2011.
Puntland Government budget

President Farole told lawmakers that the administration will present the 2011 budget within the month of November.

Puntland's annual budget contributes to paying government salaries and operations, to reinforcing security and border operations, and to small-scale development initiatives, according to Puntland's leaders.

Farole said the anti-piracy campaign will continue to intensify in Puntland, which hosts the world's largest concentration of pirates or those awaiting trail with more than 400 inmates currently in Puntland jails.

Puntland's parliament meets twice each year, during June and November. Parliament' s current session will debate key motions, including the budget and the election commission bill, according to parliament sources. The parliament is expected to pass the largest state budget in Puntland history of $100million for 2011.

FINANCIAL TIMES - Puntland holds 5-10 Billion barrels of oil

The data collected by oil companies has formed the basis of interest in Somalia today. Range Resources, an oil group listed in Sydney, estimates that the Puntland province – which includes the Mudug region – has the potential to yield 5bn-10bn barrels of oil.

Range Resources Pushes Ahead With Texan Development As Key Puntland Well Edges Nearer
Range Resources, which is listed on AIM and the ASX, is moving ahead with its drilling plans in Texas, this week spudding the Russell Bevly-1 appraisal well on the North Chapman Ranch field. The aim of the well is to provide further detail on the size of the reservoir and move the reserves up the value chain. The US$3.8 million well, which will be drilled to a depth of 14,000 feet, lies less than half mile from the Smith-1 well.

That well, which came onstream in February 2010, proved a real success for the dual-listed company, striking 215 billion cubic feet of gas, 16 million barrels of oil and 15 million barrels of natural gas liquids (gross). This is a significant resource in the heart of the Texan onshore oil and gas industry and is quite a coup for Range, which has a 25 per cent stake in the Smith-1 well and 20 per cent of the Russell Bevly-1 well. That gives Range, which has a market cap in London of £27 million,..

You are not the first to ask and you will not be the last...my dad would cut my head off if I sold an inch. My cousins tried to sell their portion of a separate farm and instead my old man matched the buyer's offer and bought their share of the farm and told them never to ask for handouts from him when production resumes.

You know that with that Budget Puntland can buy Range Resources?

They recently published their annual report, I went trough it, they only financial information they mentioned about Puntland project was $17-18m financial commitments they had as an off balance sheet item, which suggests that they haven’t really started doing any yet??

Puntland is in no position to be responsible for that much Oil money. It will most likely go in to the hands of faroole and his friends, while the bosaso would be developed, but nothign more. Oil money its the ultimate spider web that cathces african leaders in a trap of corruption. I even read that puntland made crappy oil exploration deals. No oil should be drilled in Somalia until the right institutions and the right leadership have been placed there. Iraq just made a couple months ago one of the best oil deals ever, where they profited as 4$/barrel i think.

What you mean Puntland is in no position to be responsible? It's in the perfect postion. The State is responsible for it's people and resources. Somali future wealth is in our hands in our soil!

Puntland State has the rights over it's oil, and we have the right leadership in place to move the process further.
