I heard this a while ago and there were some fundraisers, around $50,000 was raised in my city in the duration of one week, I think $200,000 might've been the final number, but messages should be sent to bring our people back home safely. Including their wives and children there are 3,200 Puntlanders stuck in Xamar.

They need to turn their weapons in for fuel and get back home, there is no way they will simply be able to shoot their way out of the capital with their families on board, and they can't wait until this government caves in.

Its a logistical nightmare, I don't think Puntland has the budget on hand to escort 3,200 people and countless military equipment back to Puntland. The best thing would be to tell everyone to sell their equipment including trucks to Al-Shabaab or TFG and get on a plane for exodus, but TFG can't afford to buy our equipment (like 200 brand new Toyota Surfs delivered in 2006, cargo trucks, and lots of heavy machine guns and small arms) and selling to Al-Shabaab would look bad for us. Its a really hard situation to navigate and the only option would be to get the fuel and ammo to those troops so they could fight their way out.

I see, lots of trucks and weapons that the puntland army could use will be lost in that scenario. Any ways puntland authorities should atleast try to get some people out. Damn, AY presidency costed us big time.

A/Yusuf's games in Xamar were half and half for us; on the plus side we got tons of military hardware and the right to buy anything anytime we wanted but at the same time we lost a lot of people and equipment, and many are still stuck in the dark city. I know for sure we'll get those people out in time, otherwise they will have to get used to being residents of Xamar. No one will harm them, but its still unfortunate that they are stuck. Hopefully money is still being raised to get them out.

Yeah.

They had work to do until the end of 2008, but since then people have been trying to arrange for them to go back home.

i think sharmarke should have done something about it while he was in charge. the puntlanders in xamar are shariif's last concerns right now i wont be surprised if he asks for ransom but good luck anyway
