No offence but you don't really need a bridge. It's not like water passes under it or something. You either level up the land to make it flat and even or you make steps/stairs going down to a pavement. Besides, why call it a grand name like "Hargeisa Bridge" when it looks like that?

Sxb, I pass by this bridge almost everyday and I cant wait for it to be completed. People have to walk through the dry riverbed. The riverbed is used for damping waste and used as public toilets. Its badly needed for a number of reasons including - during the rainy season and sometimes sporadically it rains in Hargesia. There river becomes a nightmare for traffic - cars get stuck there making it impossible to cross to the other side of the city. There is also the issue of public safety. However, perhaps, the biggest reason why its called Hargesia bridge is because there is very little investment in infrastructure across somaliland by successive govts, so this bridge is in many ways the litmus test of what could potentially come. Its symbolic. The govt has been able to restore peace but can it now build the country?

Inshallah it will be the first of many engineering schemes. We are badly in need of proper roads, proper airports, a nationwide railway and streetlighting.

Yeah

Apparently the funding ran dry!. Its become Siilaanyo symbolic gesture to the Somaliland people that change has come. This is positive. It will be completed, if anything, because of this govt intent to make things happen. If its not complete, do you think it is because the funding run dry?

Naaso-hablood is located outside of the city in the east and this bridge is located west central. I don't know the distance but in terms of driving time it's about 1hour
