Re: Marehan military ?
the sense of nationalism has always manifested itself in Marehan regions, a patriotic people with leaders that would never dare to entertain such ideas as tribal fiefdoms.damu wrote:on serious note MR have fire power n man power in gedo n galgadud

Re: Marehan military ?
5 - 7 thousand is ridiculous, even Caydiid at his greatest only had around 7,000 men. I would say there are 500 in Dooloow and maybe another 500 in Cabudwaaq. War costs money and without diaspora support the only funding source is Ethiopia and I don't think they're spending much money anymore on their Somali proxy militias, even Puntland had to start funding its own militia years ago or look for other sources of funding like the oil companies. Indocadde ruled Shabelle Hoose with 200 bodyguards, 500 men is a lot.
Re: Marehan military ?
The only militias for Gedo and Caabudwaaq both funded by Ethiopia dont number more than 1000-1500, 5-7 thousand is wishful.

labo Mareexaan hadee meel isla istaagaan dhulka baa gariirayo, 7000 might be over the top, we would probably control the nation with such a number but whatever the number in Caabudwaaq is they are many enough to keep alshabab away, alshabab who has 3 ports + Xamar and who controls half of Somalai.EEGA9 wrote:The only militias for Gedo and Caabudwaaq both funded by Ethiopia dont number more than 1000-1500, 5-7 thousand is wishful.

the Caabudwaaq group is funded by Suufi from around the world in addition to local tax from remittance companies.

A dozen or so technicals...
Larger militias like Al-Shabaab and Puntland have around 500 to 1,000 of those things.

I would advice Marexan to keep a low profile and develop their lands rather than fund instability in their regions.
Because it will lead to fitna and in the end you will lose alot just as you guys did when Ina Masale brought xabashi to Gedo.
The winds blow and times change shabaab will go eventually but its upto you to decide.
I know most of you guys are reer Dini and Gedo is mostly Talxa.
Thats why you guys have cuqdaad for Fillow I guess.
