Somalia: MPs Complain of Lack of Pensions

Post by Coeus »

Some members of the transitional federal parliament (TFP) on Monday complained about lack of regular monthly pensions.

Omar Burale, a Somali parliamentarian, told Shabelle that lawmakers didn't receive any salary for months.

Burale said they wait the pensions from United Nations development Program UNDP, adding that the agency didn't pay them for the last four months.

Mohammed Omar Mohamoud, another MP, said all members of Somali parliament are facing many finance related difficulties.

He charged the speaker of Somali parliament with not doing enough to help parliamentarians to gain their missing rights.
