If South Sudan secedes, that will only come because the Khartoum government agrees to it. If Khartoum rejects the result, you can kiss good bye to all this fuzz that South Sudan will be an independent country, and the civil war will start. Not sure why SLers are having so much fuzz about this South Sudan referendum. Remember, Eriteria had its referundum in 1993 and SL declared its secession in 1991 and Eriteria is an independent country because Ethiopia agreed to it Keep in mind this referundum is about the oil found in the South Sudan and the west would not allow China to easily take it.
