One of sister's professors was a visiting professor from Tunisia she became very close with and invited to her our house several times. Basically ever since French rule and post-independence, in fact Tunisia was let go with conditions of being a strict secular state where abortion could be legal, polygamy outlawed, and girls could not wear scarves in school. The people have always wanted to practice their religion which was denied to them by extreme secular leaders..now as usual, we are seeing what happened in Iran where the people who have been denied from practicing are wishing for religious rule in itself.

Blame that damn swe-dhish and assey leak ahhahaha

HOpe yemen is the next

There are many factors that drive people to revolt, but the chief amongst them is for economic reasons.

The reality is human beings think with their stomach, and if too many are not satisfied, people will revolt.

Mobutu faced the same fate and Lumumba was killed in a simmilar fashion

Haile selasie was dumped while Nyerere was allowed to stay longer.

Ofcourse I understand, but You think these foreign powers bring their own commandos in to do the job? No, they use the local population, whip up hysteria, get the people emotional and use them. My point is to the masses who want to break down Governmental structures no matter how corrupt they are (Saudi Arabia, Egypt, etc.) and not replace it with anything better. People think I praise the days MSB was in power out of qablaayad, but Wallahi that is not why. The bottom line is any Gov is better than no Gov. Even if Caydiid succeeded in capturing the whole Country and established control I would think it would be detrimental to national interest to fight Him. I know of so many Amharas who hate the regime in Addis Ababa yet they will not attempt to use force to get power as they understand Nationhood is at stake. Those Amharas must be Salafi Jadeed

This is just common sense 101
horta let me tell you that Amharas are not patriotic they were given the country on a silver plater and since it was taken away from them. they pretend that they are peace loving they know that Uncle Sam nor the West will not entertain them. That why they have to save their ass and sing the unity song since they are the most hated ethnic group in Ethio had they not done so they would have been extinct as Meles would have armed all groups that resent them and the MOFOS would be extinct.

As for Caydid the US did not like him but if they had then He would have been a president whether you went to the bush or not.

Dictators are always supported by the west and the day they are seen as not useful then they are discarded and left alone. they dont last that long.

Amhara's were peacful because as you said had no choice in the beginning most of them just dont want to see the break-up of there former colonial empire thats why an Amhara will never recognise Eritrea. The only patriotic Ethiopians are Amhara's, the rest just have no idea as to how to remove themselve's from this hell-hole, even a Tigray will tell you were amassing resource and wealth but have no connection to a united Ethiopia, infact alot of them are angry Meles didn't form there desired Free Tigray State. So the Amhara's have tried the ballot it didn't work and now they have openly resorted to calls for arms.Any one who visits Paltalk Amharic rooms can hear there calls loud and clear.

One party the EPPF is on ground and other like G-7 are on the fence but are leaning to open warfare.

Amharas are not patriotic

they just got Ethiopia on a silver plater they are no body have been nobody but racist pigs that were never supposed to be in power in the beginning.

I mean they never fought the Italians during the invasin Haile selasie escaped to England and it was the British that kicked out Italians.

Every time Haile selasie was facing an overthrow the brits came in and saved the day.

The Amharas used this opportunity to exploit, exhaust the resources available at the expense of the rest. thats when the 70's were the most infamous periods that saw mengistu taking over the country.

They tried to overthrow mengistu cos he was a baria but mengistu castrated their ellites and sent them to hell.

When the Eritreans were matching to Addis there was no demonstrations against them even though they knew that the country was being spit.

So they can do nothing about Meles. Just like Mengistu did Meles can actually ensure that in the eventuality of an Amhara apprising they become like the Giant Panda.
I mean you know amharas hand is full of blood of other ethnic groups in Ethiopia thats what makes them the black sheep and that is what makes them not patriotic.

They are as unpredictable as their women who are prostitutes that sell themselves in Addis.

Well said Patriot

Let not ruin the topic by starting another topic.

The Arab world is faced with a new generation of idealistic youth who are sick of there repressive and corrupt governemnts, with mass media on there side more of these protests can be expected.Ben Ali did Tunisia a huge favour by leaving office other dictator's may not be so calculating he knew that it is wiser for him to leave than tear the country down.
