Somaliland Association in Sweden wins award

Post by Coeus »

Motivation is as follows:
"Thanks to the determined and consistent work, Somaliland's Association reached out to children, adolescents and older from different cultural backgrounds. The association's operations and activities have created conditions for a natural multi-cultural environment, where people can meet on equal terms.
In Malmö we see today is a unique situation where Swedish Somalis, regardless of what groups they represent, meet in the club and live in harmony with each other. In addition, the association, through lectures and training days trained in Sweden about the culture and the conditions that Somalis come from.
What is Somaliland's Association in Malmö done?
Civic Information Officers
In collaboration with Malmö City and the County Board, the association has trained ten Somali community informants. During the year they have been in study and informed about how Swedish society works.
Youth Projects
Somaliland Association in Malmö has driven a large number of projects. One of the youth project called 'From Rosengard to Rosenbad ". There are young people from different cultural backgrounds interviewed policymakers, politicians and officials and asked her questions about how Sweden works.

My father started this association back in 1993, and many Somalis was against him for this. Because they didnt want to have their own association, they felt perfectly fine with sharing with the arabic one. But my father continued and he stopped working therein 2001. Mashallah today its one of the best associations in Sweden, even better then all other national associations
