Iran is different from Egypt.
Egypt was more of a police state than Iran.
The Iranians have more political freedoms than Egypt or Syria..

The green movement is not as powerfull as the egyptian movement the pressures that forced the issue are much less and the oppostion the pro regime supporters are not policemen in uniform or paid thugs but genuine poeple that are will to fight for the regime...

They both seem similiar but entirely different situations..

one thing that is true is that the zioninsts are not behind this...

The isrealis should know that a more democratic Iran will still be a nuclear power, you cannot stop them now, and it will be impossible to stop them tommorow when they are more democratic....

most of the opposition and the average Iranian on the street believes it is irans right and destiny to be a nuclear power..
this is the only issue that they agree on.

Egypt and Iran are only cosmetically different, they are both "thugocracies" with farcical elections, omnipresent secret police, and government-backed street gangs to beat the crap out of anyone who challenges the regime.

Egypt had a pathetic veneer of a Western Democracy, and Iran has a pathetic veneer of an Islamic Democracy. Both are corrupt as hell and deserve what they get.

the Iranian regime is just as corrupt as the Egyptian one.
The marriage between the bazaari business community and the shia clerics has made clerics like former president rafsangani a billionare.

The conditions in Egypt however do not exist, the Iranians are not as fed up as the Egyptians, and the regime is seen as corrupt and is hated but not despised.

Mubarak was seen as slave of the west an isreali stooge, the the national shame has had a big part to play along with the unemployment and frustration with the police..

This doest exist in Iran, the regime is not a national embarrassment and Iranians do not live in shame like all Arabs do, this is a big difference.

How many Iranians do you know?
I know lots of them, and the Iranian regime is indeed a national embarrassment. Ahmedinejad inviting the world's anti-semites to Tehran in order to have a "Holocaust Denial Conference" with David Duke and Neo-Nazis, his blatant corruption, Basij mugging people, the stolen election, the crackdown on the media and PressTV becoming as absurd as Pravda was during the Soviets.

The regime has turned Iran into a farce. Iranians most want to be proud to be Iranian again.

 I thought you had more insight than this.
With all of you interest in the middle east and other parts of the world i assumed that you would try to delve deeper into the minds and understand the people.

Ahmedinejad is a joke, but you should understand that practically everyone is anti-isreal in the middle east persians included.
They are trying to stay "politically correct" when in the company of westerners like you, they were probably being hospitable and were making sure you were not too upset by the subject..

I live in Dubai and as you should know there is a huge community here, i know allot of Iranians and every single one of them is thoroughly westernized and at least half are not religous/agnostic and every single one is anti-isreal..

On the other hand the ayatollahs need to go, they hijaked the revolution and they are as corrupt as their arab neighbors .
All i am saying is the green movement does not have the critical mass for revolution and that the pro-regime supporters are as strong as them.
It is a stalemate, we are not dealing with just basij, we are dealing with a large population that the basij is derived from.

Iran deserves a revolution but it will survive the current protests.

dman that holocoust guilt is quite something isnt it..

becuase hitler a maniac offs a few million jews..

The entire west is forever beholden to the jews and they can do no harm....

This western bias towards isreal is difficult to understand.

Even your average hindu extremist that hates muslims and arabs, undertands the palestinain plight instinctively as they have been through colonization.

Israel has nothing to do with it, I brought up the "Holocaust Conference" just as an example of Ahmadinejad's embarrassment to the Iranian nation. I am against Israel's expansionism as well, but that's not the way to debate that issue.

You can be a democracy and be against Israel, Lebanon is a democracy and Israel invaded them only 4 years ago. Egypt's post-Mubarak government will be either neutral or hostile to Israel unless they change their policies. Democracy is not synonymous with pro-western. In fact, dictatorships are basically synonymous with pro-western when it comes to the middle east.

You guys are opposing pro-Democracy advocates because the totalitarian dictatorship of the Mullahs is anti-American, but this is no different from America supporting Mubarak because he supported their short-sighted national interests, or for that matter America supporting the TFG and AMISOM because it supports their short-sighted national interests.

Iran should neither be a jingoistic sabre-rattling corrupt dictatorship nor should it be a US puppet, but it should be a country that furthers the interests of its people. Their taxes should be going to roads and schools not into the corrupt pockets of Basij or the Republican Guard or the rich oligarchs who are the true face behind the Mullahs.

you misunderstand james,
I only question the enthusiasm the west has for the green movement knowing as everybody does in the middle east that its not as big a deal as those like you in the west believe.

A truly democratic Iran will benefit everyone because the spread of democracy will defeat US colonialism and checkmate the US and Isreal strategically.
