Now that they've lost 6 or 7 of their own , they cannot tolerate piracy anymore
Authorities of Somalia’s semi-autonomous region of Puntland on Thursday said that using force to free a Danish family held by Somali pirates is inevitable.
Gen. Yusuf Ahmed Kheyr, the minister of home security, told local media that Puntland can’t tolerate Somali pirates kidnapping ships and bringing hostages to the regions under the control of Puntland.
Kheyr vowed the administration is committed to make the regions of Puntland free from what he called sea criminals, indicating that security forces are prepared to begin a massive operation to free the Johansen family.
Late last month, Somali pirates captured a sailing ship carrying the family of five, including three children aged 12 to 16, their parents, and two other adults.
A week ago, at least six Puntland soldiers were killed in an unsuccessful attempt to free the Danish hostages.
The minister also called on the international community to help Puntland authorities uproot pirates from its territory.
He stressed there is no cooperation between Puntland authorities and foreign ships, saying that it is the only obstacle to confront the scourge of piracy.
On Wednesday, hundreds of demonstrators took to the streets of Gara’ad, a coastal town in the Mudug region of Puntland, demanding release of the hostages.
The demonstrators raised banners reading “We Don’t Want Sea Gangs,” “Please, Free The Danish Hostages in the coastal town of Bargal” and “Don’t torch our territory with your crimes.”
Last week, a Somali member of parliament on Sunday warned against using force in another rescue attempt.
Ahmed Ugas, an MP who lived for many years in Demark, said any further attempts to rescue the Danes may end the same way as four American citizens who were killed by pirates after a U.S. warship approached them.
The MP called on Somali pirates to release all seven Danish hostages unconditionally; referring to thousands of Somali refugees who live freely inside Demark

Look at this dhabayaco load of sh.it ^. No it doesn't have to end the same way as the four Americans!!!Ahmed Ugas, an MP who lived for many years in Demark, said any further attempts to rescue the Danes may end the same way as four American citizens who were killed by pirates after a U.S. warship approached them
Puntland has ALREADY tried to free the hostages using force , THEY MISAREBLY FAILED , it doesn't mean THE SAME ATTEMPT HAS TO BE UNDERTAKEN A SECOND TIME . Is it about Puntland's bruised ego or the lives of innocent men and women kept hostage by the Puntland's one time heroes here ?
