And for fat Basra

Maya Angelou
Take a note out of this womans book fatso

These Yet To Be United States
Tremors of your network
cause kings to disappear.
Your open mouth in anger
makes nations bow in fear.
Your bombs can change the seasons,
obliterate the spring.
What more do you long for ?
Why are you suffering ?
You control the human lives
in Rome and Timbuktu.
Lonely nomads wandering
owe Telstar to you.
Seas shift at your bidding,
your mushrooms fill the sky.
Why are you unhappy ?
Why do your children cry?
They kneel alone in terror
with dread in every glance.
Their nights are threatened daily
by a grim inheritance.
You dwell in whitened castles
with deep and poisoned moats
and cannot hear the curses
which fill your children's throats.

Always tired aan aheyn
Immigrant waa gun'e

Skill xumo daraadeed
Labour aan ag taag nahay
Education kaygii already finish yahay
Ignorant jaahil ah
Equal aanu siman nahay

It's a habit of yours to walk slowly.
You hold a grudge for years.
With such heaviness, how can you be modest?
With such attachments, do you expect to arrive anywhere?

Be wide as the air to learn a secret.
Right now you're equal portions clay
and water, thick mud.
Abraham learned how the sun and moon and the stars all set.
He said, No longer will I try to assign partners for God.

You are so weak. Give up to grace.
The ocean takes care of each wave
till it gets to shore.
You need more help than you know.
You're trying to live your life in open scaffolding.
Say Bismillah, In the name of God
as the priest does with a knife when he offers an animal.

Bismillah your old self
To find your real name.

Rumi

We are as the flute, and the music in us is from thee;
we are as the mountain and the echo in us is from thee.

We are as pieces of chess engaged in victory and defeat:
our victory and defeat is from thee, O thou whose qualities are comely!

Who are we, O Thou soul of our souls,
that we should remain in being beside thee?

We and our existences are really non-existence;
thou art the absolute Being which manifests the perishable.

We all are lions, but lions on a banner:
because of the wind they are rushing onward from moment to moment.

Their onward rush is visible, and the wind is unseen:
may that which is unseen not fail from us!

Our wind whereby we are moved and our being are of thy gift;
our whole existence is from thy bringing into being.

Thoughts after Ruskin...by Elma Mitchell

Women reminded him of lilies and roses.

Me they remind rather of blood and soap,

Armed with a warm rag, assaulting noses,

Ears, neck, mouth and all the secret places:

Armed with a sharp knife, cutting up liver,

Holding hearts to bleed under a running tap,

Gutting and stuffing, pickling and preserving,

Scalding, blanching, broiling, pulverising,

- All the terrible chemistry of their kitchens.

Their distant husbands lean across mahogany

And delicately manipulate the market,

While safe at home, the tender and gentle

Are killing tiny mice, dead snap by the neck,

Asphyxiating flies, evicting spiders,

Scrubbing, scouring aloud, disturbing cupboards,

Committing things to dustbins, twisting, wringing,

Wrists red and knuckles white and fingers puckered,

Pulpy, tepid. Steering screaming cleaners

Around the snags of furniture, they straighten

And haul out sheets from under the incontinent

And heavy old, stoop to importunate young,

Tugging, folding, tucking, zipping, buttoning,

Spooning in food, encouraging excretion,

Mopping up vomit, stabbing cloth with needles,

Contorting wool around their knitting needles,

Creating snug and comfy on their needles.

Their huge hands! their everywhere eyes! their voices

Raised to convey across the hullabaloo,

Their massive thighs and breasts dispensing comfort,

Their bloody passages and hairy crannies,

Their wombs that pocket a man upside down!

And when all's over, off with overalls,

Quickly consulting clocks, they go upstairs,

Sit and sigh a little, brushing hair,

And somehow find, in mirrors, colours, odours,

Their essences of lilies and of roses.

Walaal, your second poem choice is DISTURBING. I cant decide whether it is vulgar in that it glorifies fatness or it is sad and unmesmerizing, as it confesses schizoprenic ode---- :x I will let u know what i decide. :cry:

Paul Laurence Dunbar - Sympathy

I know what the caged bird feels, alas!
When the sun is bright on the upland slopes;
When the wind stirs soft through the springing grass,
And the river flows like a stream of glass;
When the first bird sings and the first bud opes,
And the faint perfume from its chalice steals--
I know what the caged bird feels!

I know why the caged bird beats his wing
Till its blood is red on the cruel bars;
For he must fly back to his perch and cling
When he fain would be on the bough a-swing;
And a pain still throbs in the old, old scars
And they pulse again with a keener sting--
I know why he beats his wing!

I know why the caged bird sings, ah me,
When his wing is bruised and his bosom sore,--
When he beats his bars and he would be free;
It is not a carol of joy or glee,
But a prayer that he sends from his heart's deep core,
But a plea, that upward to Heaven he flings
--
I know why the caged bird sings!

Ta'iyo Wow (A-Z)

by Maxamed Xaashi Dhamac 'Gaarriye'

Caalinow, Ta' iyo Wow,
Bal tixraac halkaan maro!
Tukayaasha duulaa
Warka waysu tebiyaan;
Waa aftahan qudhaanjadu;
Geeluna tawaawaca
Kolka biyaha loo tubo
Ways tibaax yaqaannaa;
Tigaaddaad arkaysaa
Kaftan ay taqaannay
Hoos-ka-tuur u leedahay;
Taaha adhigu waa hadal
Urtu waysku tooydaa;
Toggagiyo dabayluhu
Tookh bay la reemaan;
Tankiisuu aboorkuba
Toos ugu xidhiidhaa;
Daruuruhu tub gaadhay
Heesaha u tiriyaan;
Dhulku wuu tiraabaa
Tifka roobka dayruhu
Onkod buu la taamaa.

Waxay hoga-tusaysaa,
Afka nolosha waw tiir
La'aantiisna tuur iyo
Tulux lagama waayeen,
Tayo may lahaateen
Dhaqan lama tallaaleen
Qaran lama tusmaysteen,
Nin kastaa ha tookhee,
Far baa lagu tanaadaa.

Haddii qalinka loo tudho
Wax qoraalka laga tago,
Lama taabbaggeli karo.

Waaq iyo Tinniix iyo
Bal Tincaaro weyddii,
Soo tiri ayaamaha,
Taariikhda raacdee!

Afkaygow, tabaaliyo
Maxaad tow ku nooleyd!
Maxaad belo u taagneyd!
Shisheeyuhu tab iyo xeel
Muxuu kugu tuntuunsaday,
Tisqaadkaaga dhaawacay!
Maxaa gabay tilmaannaa
Maahmaaho toolmoon
Maalmuhu tireenoo
Qalbigaygu tebayaa!
Maxaa erey tafiir go'ay!
Maxaan maanso teeriya,
Tacab ba'ay ka joogaa!
Sida ay u taxan tahay
Murtidaadu tabanaa
Teelteelna badanaa!

Maxaan sheeko taabud ah
Tawraadi faallayn
Weli nebina soo tebin,
Kaa tasoobay oo lumay!

Ubadkaagu toos iyo
Maxay talada seegeen!
Maxaa taar mid soo diray
Ka kaleeto tuuroo,
Laba tulud wadaagtaa
Turjubaan u baahdeen!

Qoraalkaagu tacab iyo
Muxuu dhigay turxaannoo
Tartan ba'an aloosoo
Colba doc iska taageen!

Allaylehe tabtaan rabay
Haddaa lagu tixgeliyoo,
Tacluustiyo wadeecada
Caawaba ka togatee,
Taw wiif ka siiyoo,
Taltallaabso maantoo,
Murtidaadu waa toge!
Taageer hiddaayoo,
Sayidkii ku toosoo,
Taabsii xogtaadoo,
Ku tirow Balaayacas!
Soo toosi Haabiil!
Raage taranta gaadhsii!
U tukubi higgaaddoo,
Soddon tirada dhaafsii!
Toban shaqal ku geeraar!
Shibbannaha ku taakuli!

Hadal lama tasoobee,
Guddigii ku tiirshee
Kugu taxay xuruufaha,
Mahad iyo tahniyad sii!
Taalladay mutaysteen,
Ka dultaag Cirjiidhyada!
