
Mogadishu mayor Mohamud Ahmed Nur [Tarsan] has today told that unidentified foreign firms operate in Somalia capital, Mogadishu without given permission from the government.
“We know 30companies operating in AMISOM’s main base at Halane camp. We do not aware what they are doing here”, said Mr. Nur speaking at regional meeting in the city today.
Mr. Nur also the governor of Benadir region pointed the finger at the African Union troops [AMISOM] in Mogadishu are sheltering the unknown firms those he described as ‘illegal companies’.
“After great consultation with the interior minister we will issue on those firms. They are not recorded to the government nor we gave them any permission”, the mayor said. “We do not go with what field are they making”, he added.
He also charged that the unknown companies do not employ Somali people which he said it is against the interest of the country.
The mayor called every foreign entity must register their names and as well as their real duty.
Transitional federal government of Somalia suspended a deal with South African mercenary firm which operated in Mogadishu and in Puntland region late January accusing its involvement in unclean individuals.
Also the lawmakers have already suggested throwing out deals with some foreign companies operating in the country.
