An ethical Problem?
What should you do?
So,You have graduated from university and after several desperate attempts you got the job you always wanted..you were given some tasks which you done quite perfectly and you were hailed as "good employee" by your supervisors...Now,after that, you are assigned a task in which your experience is very limited ,You know if you screw it up,it can compromise the safety of the public.your supervisors tell you they cant help you anymore and they are busy in their own projects.if you dont complete the task
you may lose the job you always wanted because some one else will take your position.
what would you do in such a hypothetical scenario?

Don't give up, and just try your best to complete the task you are given. Whatever it takes to keep your dream job.

Why would you even think about failure? If you've gotten your dream job, success should be on your mind. No ifs ands or buts!

if your aware of your incompetence and you go ahead taking on the task that could cause a safety issue to the public, you are unethical and its also illegal. take this from someone who studies civil engineering, you will end up paying a huge fine or even might go to prison where inmates will do more to you than call you swine. you company will obviously fire you and you might never get a chance to work for another company in that field. after all this when you die, you will go to hell.

Speak out if it’s something that you have no way of doing but if it’s something that other newbies are capable of then tough luck cuz you will lose it to someone who can.

ask your work mates how they went through it or alternatively inform your manager or the auditing dept.abgaalKING wrote:What should you do?

Re: An ethical Problem?
this happened to me and it could happen to anyone. this was back in '04 when i was hired to do something i had no idea what it was--to begin with. it wasn't a professional job but still i couldn't do it right away because they didn't give enough training and the whole concept was new to me. in the end, i had to switch positions. i did so well in my new position that when i told them i was going to leave, the plant manager and my supervisors did all they could to make me stay there, even promising me a rise and a chance of promotion. i subsequently left the company on my own.
coming back to your question, i don't think you have much options. it is different for everybody but this is what i would do if i were you:
if i don't know how to carry out a task i am assigned to, and in doing so could jeopardize lives, i wouldn't do it and i would seek help even if that means losing my job. also, it will help you if you could befriend one of your co-workers and ask questions about your tasks and how easily you could master them.
anyway, if you do something wrong and you tell them you didn't know any better, they will always tell you "why you didn't ask", believe me.
so just ask them questions and see what happens. do not compromise the safety of the public.

Re: An ethical Problem?
Im currently doing an ethical subject ‘Ethics and Governance’. Walahi im scared to do anything wrong now or even a short-cuts it’s just not worthy. Reading about all those unethical people what they find themselves in.
You never know so yes I will just ask questions and if the managers are too busy to train their employees which by the way have a fiduciary duty to train all stuff properly and in a timely manner then quite!
