Anyone go to the Minneapolis protest?
I think it was today. A joint request by Seattle Somali communities got their permit to protest in front of the federal building downtown early next week. First time Somali communities have united to request a protest permit. Even the anti-Ethiopian invasion one was requested by one community center (sad to say but rer Mog). Never seen Somalis buzzing about protest before, downtown is going to be filled up for streets

You know Farmaajo is doing something well if people from different tribes (in the West - different somali centres) unite to protest.

Roving I know the Minneapolis one was today, did you go? I am actually not a fan of protests but I've been asked to help make placards tomorrow and it is getting me in the mood.

I don't see why I support the destruction of Somalia. That is what is farmaajo and Amisom is all about.
These people who come to support farmaajo has not idea at all the history and the reality of Somalia. Somali wa caqli ka soomanayaal...

No, I didn't go. I personally don't believe in protests and I think there are more useful avenues one can engage to bring about a positive impact. My younger brother was there and he said about 200 people showed up.

Re: Anyone go to the Minneapolis protest?
Landers have one prominent community center that also has a mosque and qur'an school. Both my mom and grandma go there a lot as it is the closest mosque to us and to be honest there is really no separation of Somaliland/Somalia here. People have their own perspectives but we are generally united. The last major protest I went to about Somalis was the anti-Ethiopian invasion of Mogadishu one held in front of the federal building and while majority of the people were Hawiye, the co-sponsor was a Layl kase guy with Marehan mom, and the speaker who pulled the most emotions from the crowd was an Isaaq girl finishing her nursing program and was distressed about the impact to the poor, mothers and children, and elderly the invasion would result in.bariis567 wrote:Voltage, do you know if the local lander community is going to be showing up in support?
This one is going to be even more diverse.
Re: Anyone go to the Minneapolis protest?
A nice change of scenery from the code pinks people who are seemingly always protesting there.
