There were so many women there, I think there was a slight segregation...most of the women were sitting on one side of the hall and most of the men on the other side.
dependence on welfare creates some real problems and this is one of them. plenty of time with nothing to do is the manifest of such celebrations. if you were busy like me, you would barely know we are in july, much less 1st of july being somalia's indepedence day. i don't have time for such nonsense and many would have shared that lack of interest with me had welfare being eliminated.
according to the latest news from somalia, millions of somalis are on the verge of dying as a result of long and severe drought. in fact, some parts of the country people have already starting dying of starvation.
in this gathering, it would have been an honorable thing to do had they collected money to help their suffering fellow somalis. as an individual, i don't have the conscience to celebrate while millions of my fellow somalis are dying of starvation.
