Are you trying to get to know her for marriage purposes? If so then I don't see how that's wrong; you would get distracted though so put it on hold and focus on cibaadadda first.

:lol: you ask that as though it is halal to go on dates during other months. If you two are completely alone then no matter the purpose it is never halal.

The theory behind it is beautiful lakin can you imagine it? Unless it is an arranged marriage sort of situation, if it is someone you met through uni or work or something like that then those dates would be hella awkward no? Or would it be a one date interview where all the questions are gotten out of the way and a yes or no is given after some thought? Because if it's meeting up with your dad on Saturday nights for a coffee and "isbarasho" with the culprit that would most probably not go down well with most Somali fathers and brothers.

From my experience it was more like a date between me and the girl's older brother since we were talking to each other 80% of the time. Any somali father or brother would have a lot of respect for a guy that wants to get to know their daughter/sister with their permission and presence but it would be nothing like a real date i guess.

This topic reminds me of questions posed to the travelling somali preachers;

Dear sheikh, is kissing haram? Dear Sheikh, is stimulating my wife haram? Dear sheikh is... haram?

Firstly, use your common sense

and

secondly

you should be a good person through out the year not only ramadan.

Most [many] Somalis do just about everything, bar intercourse, when going on dates. They are all over each other.

That's lust and hormones for you.

How many dates did you go on and did you know already you wanted to marry her?

I think the problem of getting the family involved is if you are not sure and they have to be involved in the "break up".
