HIRDA a Marehan NGO based in Amsterdam, Baardheere, Caabudwaaq and Kismaayo has built a school in Laascaanood.

HIRDA was created by Marehan diaspora, Marehan diaspora fund this NGO on monthly bases. They work for their fellow Marehans backhome but also other Somalis in other regions.

I guees since last year, they trying to be national.

They also run a MHC (maternity health center) in Caabudwaaq, a clinic in Baardheere and one in Beled-Xaawo, and a MHC in Kismaayo. Here is Ismaaciil Cigaal Giirl secondary school in Caabudwaaq built by Hirda. In addition they also run seminars and hold political and social discussions involving society, civic building exercises,etc.

I don't know how also using some of your resources to aid some of your brethren in other parts of the country is "misplaced" priority.

HIRDA is funded by Marehan diaspora. But also other people like UNICEF and other big charity givers etc. So maybe if they show those 'large funders' that they going big, they will get bigger funds from them, and therefore HIRDA will get more FUNDS and use those funds mostly in their own regions and the left-overs in other regions, and the cycle continues.

DropkickMorphy:The best way to run a reputable NGO in Somalia is to run bunch of siminars and sanitation programs in ur non qabiil degaans and take all the big projects to ur tribal areas.when it comes to funding time u will have that national appeal.If I ran NGO I would do the same thing
