Caabudwaaq VS Burco, Which is Bigger?

Post by Knight of Wisdom »

We all know that, Burco has received countless amount of International Aid, Private donations from European Union, United Kingdom and is settled by Habar Yonis, Habar Jeclo, Gabooye, and small minority of Habar Awal. Therefore, for it to grow substantially isn't shocking to anyone.

On the other hand, we have Caabudwaaq, settled by Celi, Reer Siyaad Husssein, Reer Dini and Wagardhac, and all of them fall under Beesha Mareexaan, which is equivalent to Habar Yonis. Caabudwaaq never received International Aid nor Private Donations and help from the E.U or the UK. It isn't settled by multiple clans like Burco, nonetheless, it has maintained a relatively substantial growth over the years. Mind you, it has peace now for 3 years so far.

Let's compare in every aspect.

My younger brother who is currently in waqooyi, told me that burco produces fresh water, there is a water bottle company that makes alot of money in that city and in the whole region actually.

Also Indhadeero AUN has an excellent reputation regarding creating businesses in Burco

  i think this is a WAY unfair comparsion

"Burao was the site of the unilateral and internationally unrecognized declaration of an independent Somaliland on May 18, 1991. Also like the other cities in the northern part of the country, Burao has been rebuilt with limited outside aid. The city has boomed economically with the money coming in and people from rural areas moving to the city."

"Burao's population has greatly increased over the years. Today, the city has a population of about 400,000 inhabitants. Although information on the number of people voting in the city in 2006 parliamentary elections is available, no census was conducted for more than 20 years.
The inhabitants of Burao are the Habar Yoonis and the Habar Jeclo, of the larger Isaaq clan of the Somali people.
The city also enjoys full-time electricity and a reliable water supply from groundwater. In addition, Burao's central location has contributed to its economic revival. Goods travelling to the south, central and eastern parts of Somalia all depart from the city's outskirts. Rural merchants also sell their produce on a daily basis, which attracts business."

Who would have thought Caabudwaaq which was virtually nothing now competes with a city like Burco, with history and clan diversity. If the Marehan let the Fiqi/Muxumud Dir and the Cayr/Habar Gidir settle in the city, Caabudwaaq would be the 4th largest city in Somalia after Mogadishu, Hargeisa, and Kismaayo. 8-)
