Puntland Lawmaker Dies in a Road Accident


A lawmaker serving in the local parliament of Somalia 's semi-autonomous region of Puntland has died after his car crashed on the way to the Puntland capital Garowe.

According to Puntland's Deputy parliament speaker, Salat Hareed confirmed to Somalia Report that Bashiir Adooyo alias to lilan died late on Monday.

“Bashiir Adooyo died in a car accident late on Monday, including Maryan Mohamed, a female doctor working with Puntland Development research center (PDRC) when they were heading to Garowe,” said Hareed.

The cause of the accident has not been established but locals told Somalia Report that cases of road accidents are commonplace in the area, due to the poor road networks and reckless driving.
