Back in the 80's I read a book written by a wonderful, educated Somali lady (I forgot her name) that was talking about FGM & its devastating life-long results in women from caadada, to galmada with their husbands & worst of all, when they are giving birth to their first baby.
I remember long time ago back home a guy who was older than us was telling us, a group of youngsters, about a time he used to help a man that used to circumcise kids. He said there was this lady who brought her daughter in for circumcision & she was telling the butcher, "Meel yar oo masago ay ka geli karto oo ay ka kaadido bes u daa." Can that woman be called a mother? Was she doing that as a revenge 'cause her own mother did the same thing to her? I f-king never understood & it's one of the worst traditions Somalis ever adopted.
I can't believe he even let you out of the kitchen & his basement. If you were my girl noloshaad nici lahayd!
