I pray 5 times a day and stay away from controversy. Meaning I don't associate myself with any sect but do what all these sects agree upon. No sect will tell you praying 5 times a day is wrong or fasting is wrong or being a good human with good qualities all around is wrong or learning the Quran is wrong but that is all you need. Play it safe!

^ Sects? You mean the four Madhabs. The meanings of the two words sect and madhab are different. However, what you said is good.
