who the hell is she anyway?abdi.ismail wrote:Since when has this become somali traditional clothing?
I feel sorry for the residents of Moagdishu, they are slowly being bantuized. From welcoming muslim foreign dignitaries with ass shaking to wearing dashikis at a formal event.
sorry to disappoint you but that's not the Somalia i am envisioning. besides, that dress looks ugly on her and it only obscured her identity as a Somali woman. not knowing what i know now, i would have guessed her, not as being a Somali, but a Liberian or Nigerian. you put that dress on, you no longer represent Somali women but west African.TheblueNwhite wrote:She's government official and a seasoned politician, that's who she is and we aint in Saudi Arabia we're in Somalia, Africa.
Better get used to seeing female government officials welcoming foreign male dignitaries cuz it sure aint a temporary arrangement.

why are you inserting clan and all that other stuff here?! no one is poking fun at this old and confused lady. personally, i don't care who she is or what she stands for but the fact is that she's leaving her Somali traditional dress in the closet and she's wearing an alien dress doesn't just want me to question her wisdom but her political agenda, too. is she one of the so-called feminist? or those who think wearing hijab is awkward? in any case, she's ugly.Avicenna wrote:I don't think it's considered polite to poke fun at the dress of a woman who's old enough to be your mother.
Furthermore, her fashion isn't new to Mogadishu or even Somalia. She's wearing African dress or a fly dress which was all the rage in the late 80s for anyone who remembers or has seen pics/videos of that era. Such outfits were/are considered more professional than the dirac and abaya you think are somehow more Somali, when neither are. It used to be considered a sign of badownimo to be parading around in formal settings wearing dirac. In addition, Somalia is in Africa, making African dresses more appropriate than polyster abayas and wool suits imported from other continents. If this was an attempt at negating Mogadishu residents, I'm afraid you failed in that attempt. Mogadishu residents are no more embarrassing than Hargeisa residents. If anything, they have always been very resilient and progressive compared to the clan enclaves people like you hail from.
Vive Mogadishu.
all are beautiful except the ones wearing African dresses and the naked ones---the two on the right ( below picture)TheblueNwhite wrote:You asked the question remember.barakaboy10 wrote:who the hell is she anyway?
As for the dress she's wearing it's not new to Somalia, Avicenna explained it in detail, there's no need to get in to it.
There she's again wearing the lime green african dress
The majority of the women are wearing buljis, and they hail from different Somali regions. These women work in Somalia, they're doctors, government officials, businesswomen, NGO workers, and intellectuals.
As for what you envision, no one gives a rats @ss.
Grandpa you do know that there are millions of Muslims all around Africa that wear those kinda clothesgrandpakhalif wrote:Disgusting culture wallahi, look at her shes looks like Nigerian christian or afrikaan gaal camal ah![]()
