A Nice little story that warms the Heart

Post by Monk-of-Mogadishu »

Years ago, roughly 2005-2006 when oil exploration was kicking off, a room full of clan elders in Bari grilled then-Puntland leader Maxamed Muuse Xirsi on the issue, "What if Clan X hears of oil in our land and attacks our properties," and "If there is oil in Clan Y's land they will use the advantage against us..." and so forth. Mr. Muuse Xirsi sat the elders down and showed them a postcard of modern Dubai [quite obviously different from the Dubai they grew up with] and told them simply, "If this project goes through, all of your villages will look like this, because Dubai itself does not even have the oil - their neighboring cousins do." Suffice to say, the room went utterly quiet.

"This fuel well is not only for Puntland. It will benefit all Somalis if Somalia becomes one with a common constitution," Farole said, while laying a foundation stone.
There is no need to be pessimistic; everything has been tried, let's give this a chance and let's all bathe in money together. :)

Assume from now, every thread by Monk, no matter how misleading the title, is about oil.

what a wise man he was.. in Saudi arabia there are more than 80 clans and non of them fought for the last century since oil was discovered.. indeed oil is thicker than blood.
