Why isn't every somali city...
...built near or on the coast. I never understood why we bother building in dusty lifeless deserts and muddy watering-holes. We have the longest coastline in africa, use it.

Because Somalis are Geel jir first and last. What use is salty water and fish to a geel jir.

Abdi Ismacil,
Like the above answer, Somalis are geeljires who moved closer and closer to the coast over the centuries. The real coastal people in Somalia were the Reer Xamar, Banjuuns. Culturally We're simply not coastal people, and we don't seem to have the brain capacity to simply adjust and change our culture.

Re: Why isn't every somali city...
if that was the case we wouldnt have lost socatra for the semitic settlers like it did, it was an empty land before 400 AD. i have noticed while watching a video of cadcad jaziira wich has cliff and mountain houses inside the sea that its the same in socotra!. we arent see people, we are geeljire stock.

ONCE THE NUGAAL PIPELINE IS BUILT, SOMALIS WILL BE FLOCKING TO EYL AND OTHER INDIAN OCEAN COASTAL TOWNS IN PUNTLAND.
